These mutation rates are frequently invoked to explain the ability of these viruses to rapidly adapt to new or changing environmental conditions, such as changes in host immunity profiles for endemic viruses such as influenza and changes in host species in the case of spillover viruses. Here, I will instead focus on the evolutionary constraints to viral adaptation that are brought about by high mutation rates in the context of spatial within-host viral compartmentalization, transmission bottlenecks between infectors and infectees, and genetic linkage across viral genomes. I will also discuss means of population-level viral adaptation that are accessible in the context of these constraints. Visit the website for details.\r\n\r\n\r\nAbstract:\r\nConnecting the solar wind observed throughout the heliosphere to its origins in the solar corona is one of the central aims of heliophysics and a fundamental science objective of the Parker Solar Probe (PSP) and Solar Orbiter missions. The slow solar wind exhibits significant variability on relatively short timescales, from minutes to days. It has been argued that this variability in the magnetic field, bulk plasma, and heavy ion composition properties of the slow wind are the result of magnetic reconnection processes in the extended solar corona. In this presentation, I will review some basic properties of the large-scale coronal flux systems associated with the intermittent release of closed-field plasma onto open field lines via interchange reconnection in terms of the so-called Separatrix-Web (S-Web) framework for describing the magnetic field connectivity. I will then present some recent analysis of the solar wind from 2003 April 15 to May 13 (Carrington Rotation 2002) in order to illustrate that intervals of slow-to-moderate speed wind with enhanced variability and ionic composition signatures can be related to specific S-Web topological structures in the corona. Specifically, there are four pseudostreamer wind intervals and two heliospheric current sheet\/plasma sheet crossings (and an ICME) which all exhibit enhanced alpha-to-proton ratios and elevated ionic charge states of carbon, oxygen, and iron. In her talk, Michelle N. Huang discusses how dystopian clone narratives challenge notions of individual racialized identity at both the genetic and generic levels. Drawing on Saidiya Hartman\u2019s concept of racial fungibility, Huang will examine Kazuo Ishiguro\u2019s Never Let Me Go (2005) and Larissa Lai\u2019s Salt Fish Girl (2002) to trace how Asian American interchangeability is produced through reproductive control as well as an economy of character. In rearticulating, rather than rejecting, notions of shared subjectivity, hivemind, and fellow feeling, Asiatic clones ask for experimental alternatives to the ethnic bildungsroman and demonstrate the novel form itself to be a racialized technology of identity.\r\n\r\nMichelle N. Huang is an Assistant Professor of English and Asian American Studies at Northwestern University. She has research and teaching interests in contemporary Asian American literature, posthumanism, and feminist science studies. Her current project, Molecular Race, examines posthumanist aesthetics in post-1965 Asian American literature to trace racial representation and epistemology at nonhuman, minute scales. Molecular Race argues that a rapprochement with scientific discourse is necessary to fully grasp how the formal and aesthetic qualities of Asian American literature unsettle sedimented structures of racial formation.\r\n\r\nMichelle\u2019s work appears in American Literature, Contemporary Literature, Twentieth-Century Literature, Journal of Asian American Studies, Amerasia, and Post 45: Contemporaries, among other venues. She is the founding Director of the Digital Studies Institute at the University of Michigan and the Lead P.I. for the DISCO (Digital Inquiry, Speculation, Collaboration and Optimism) Network (disconetwork.org).\r\n\r\nHuan He is a Curriculum Development Fellow at the DISCO Network Michigan Hub and holds a PhD in American Studies and Ethnicity from the University of Southern California. Most broadly, his research engages Asian\/American literature and culture, histories of media and technology, visual culture, digital game studies, and poetics. His book project, currently titled, \u201cThe Racial Interface,\u201d explores the racial associations linking Asian\/Americans and information technology in the digital era. Drawing from literature, art, and archival sources, this project reveals how myths of racial and technological progress converge in the shadow of U.S. liberal capitalism. He foregrounds minoritarian writers and artists who challenge the dominant technological imaginaries shaping the digital present. He is also interested in the relationship between race, gaming, cheating, and scams and pursuing a second project on these topics. His scholarly writing has been published in College Literature: A Journal of Critical Literary Studies and Media-N and is forthcoming in an anthology on Asian\/American game studies. They brought with them several objects of indigenous Mexican manufacture that proved fascinating to the Ming literati who interviewed them. As far as we know, this is the first time that people in China came into contact with the material culture of colonial Spanish America. To understand the incident, we must step out of the mutually exclusive siloes of Asian and colonial Latin American studies, and question the spatiotemporal assumptions that underpin much of Pacific studies. Yet the incident does not just require us to transgress institutionalized boundaries governing research: it also provokes questions about the usefulness of a past that is all too easily reduced to an antiquarian curiosity.\r\n\r\nRicardo Padr\u00f3n is a professor in the Department of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese at the University of Virginia, where he teaches classes on Hispanic literature and culture, and conducts research on the geopolitical imagination of the early modern Hispanic world, as expressed in cartography and literature. Wade, Americans everywhere are strategizing and mobilizing to protest and challenge the abolishment of the right to abortion care. These actions are necessary and important, though it is often forgotten that even when Roe was in place, abortion care for many women still was not adequate. \r\n\r\nThis talk will examine the realities of reproductive health care for women before the end of Roe, where we are now, in the post-Roe era, and what strategies we need to employ going forward in anticipation of the erosion of even more rights.\r\n\r\nAbout the speaker: \r\nYamani Yans\u00e1 Hernandez has been working at the vanguard of the sexual and reproduc\u00adtive health, rights, and justice movements for the last decade. From 2011-2015, she was the Executive Director of the Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health (ICAH), a reproductive justice organization focusing on adolescent sexual health, rights, and identities. Most re\u00adcently, Ms. Hernandez was the first Black Executive Director of the National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF), overseeing the membership, technical assistance, and advocacy for over 80 grassroots organizations that fund abortion and build the cultural and politi\u00adcal power to ensure that the legal right to abortion remains a reality. Under her leader\u00adship, the staff increased from 12 to 60; the budget grew from $2 million to $20 million; and the organization cultivated an approach to their work based on an ethos of justice and care. Ms. Hernandez holds a B.S. from Cornell University and an M.
