The twenty-three photographs in the exhibition, drawn from UMMA\u2019s collections, show the artist\u2019s ability to synthesize a personal\u2014even nationalistic\u2014style that merged the motifs of Mexican religious and indigenous works and plant forms (such as agave leaves) with a Modernist approach to image making. Because the work evolves based on whatever content is available online at any given moment, the artist relinquishes a certain degree of creative control. He is inspired by a desire to place cheerful art underfoot in unexpected places and to embrace the temporary nature of all things. Zinn is a lifelong Michigander with a degree in creative writing from the U-M Residential College, and he worked for many years as a children\u2019s radio host on WCBN and Michigan Radio.
