For me the creation of my art, be it painting, drawing or printmaking, integrates my life experiences, my beliefs and my heritage. I hope that my viewers will also bring their own lenses created by their identity, their family history and their experiences.\u201d \n- Ruth Weisberg\nRuth Weisberg: Of Memory, Time &amp; Place brings together over 25 works that span six decades of the artist\u2019s practice as a painter and printmaker. It features iconic works from Weisberg\u2019s artistic career - Waterborne (1973), A Year Passes (1985) and Questioning Veronese (2011) - where she explored the interconnectedness and continuity of successive generations. Anchored in themes of personal and familial memory; ancestral knowledge embedded in her Jewish heritage, and admiration for Western art history, her unframed canvases, and works on paper create liminal spaces that collapse the time and space, where family, friends from the present and past share space with great painters and Holocaust survivors and those who perished. The Shtetl, A Journey and Memorial, a limited- edition artist book that she wrote and illustrated comprising 9 intaglio prints in 1971, lies at the heart of the exhibition. In it she paid homage to the small Jewish towns in Poland (where her ancestors are from) before the Holocaust. This significant work was a touchstone for her artistic and professional career as it propelled her move from Michigan to Los Angeles in 1969.\n \nBorn and raised in Chicago, Weisberg moved to Ann Arbor to pursue her higher studies, she completed her B.Ed (1964), after spending three years in Perugia, Italy where she earned a Laurea di Belle Arti in 1962, and MFA (1965). Since her arrival in Los Angeles, Weisberg has been a formidable influence and mentor to decades of artists as an artist, Professor of Fine Arts and former Dean at the University of Southern California Roski School of Art and Design. Weisberg was the Director of the USC Initiative for Israeli Arts and Humanities, and the founder of the Jewish Artists Initiative of Southern California. Her first major survey in Los Angeles was in 1979 at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery. She and Judy Chicago were the first two artists exhibited at The Women\u2019s Building, Los Angeles. Their solo exhibitions inaugurated that venue. Weisberg has had more than 80 solo exhibitions and nearly 200 group exhibitions internationally, including a major exhibition at the Norton Simon Museum, Pasadena and a retrospective, at the Skirball Museum, Los Angeles as well as a solo exhibition at the Huntington in San Marino. She is the recipient of many prestigious awards, some notable ones are the Printmaker Emeritus Award from the Southern Graphic Council International in 2015 and the Foundation for Jewish Culture\u2019s 50th Anniversary Cultural Achievement Award in 2011. She has been the recipient of the Art Leadership Award, National Council of Art Administrators and the Women\u2019s Caucus for Art Lifetime Achievement Award, 2009.         "description":"The theory behind inclusive leadership is vast. It has connections with emotional intelligence, communication, understanding team dynamics, mentoring, and more. The other nine workshops in this series focused on the theory and application. For this round table, we gathered a panel of faculty and staff who have experience using inclusive leadership in their fields. Join us for a round table where you will learn to go beyond the theory and hear real life experience about using inclusive leadership in practice.\nPresenters:\nNeeraja Aravamudan, Ph.D., Director, Ginsberg Center\nAs Director of the Ginsberg Center, Neeraja Aravamudan contributes to the strategic leadership of Ginsberg and supports the center\u2019s strategic partnerships with academic units across the university. Aravamudan has focused her professional career in higher education on helping students and faculty to make their teaching and learning more student-centered, inclusive, and equitable. Her commitment to social justice education is rooted in her personal experiences as an immigrant from India and her work in anti-bias education. Community-engaged learning brings together her interests in social justice, teaching and learning, and values-centered practices.\nKarishma Collette, Ph.D., Assistant Director, Center for Research on Learning and Teaching\nKarishma Collette earned her B.Sc. in life sciences at the University of Mumbai (India) in 2001. In 2003, she completed her M.Sc. in industrial biotechnology at Newcastle University (United Kingdom), and a Ph.D. in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology at the University of Michigan in 2011. Collette\u2019s dissertation focused on the characterization of a novel Condensin protein complex (Condensin I) in C.elegans mitosis and meiosis. During her Ph.D., Collette enjoyed teaching introductory biology and genetics, and continued her pedagogical training as a postdoc at the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching (CRLT) from August 2012 to April 2014. After her training at CRLT, she advised U-M undergraduate students interested in careers in the health professions at the Newnan LSA Academic Advising Center, and managed the peer tutoring and peer mentorship programs at the Science Learning Center. In her current role at CRLT, Collette consults with and facilitates workshops for faculty, GSIs, and undergraduates in instructional roles, on a variety of topics in teaching and learning. She also directs the winter GSI teaching orientation, and is the CRLT lead for the CRLT-ELI 994 program. Collette is currently an active member of CRLT\u2019s GSI team and DEI team.\nKrishna Han, Ph.D., Associate Director, Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs\nKrishna Han\u2019s (he\/him\/his) professional student affairs journey in the United States took him from Oberlin College to Bowling Green State University (BGSU) prior to joining the University of Michigan. Originally from Cambodia, Han graduated from the Royal University of Phnom Penh with a dual degree in biology and education. After completing a master\u2019s degree in community forestry at Shinshu University in Japan he pursued and earned a Ph.D. in regional environmental resources management at Hokkaido University in Japan. Han studied the impacts of economic development policy introduced by the World Bank to Cambodia in 1993 on the livelihood of Indigenous people in the northeastern part of Cambodia and traditional farming system. He worked with various international organizations such as World Vision International and United Nations Environmental Program before moving to the United States. While in the United States, he pursued and earned another graduate degree in 2003 in college student personnel at BGSU, where he served as assistant director in the Office of Multicultural Affairs from 2012 to 2018. Han is passionate about and an advocate for global and multicultural education, cross-cultural understanding, and social justice.\nDar Mayweather, M.Ed., Lecturer, University of North Carolina Wilmington\nDar Mayweather (he, him, his) is a full-time lecturer in the leadership studies minor in the Department of Educational Leadership at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Mayweather is a first-generation college student, with a bachelor\u2019s in criminal justice and a master\u2019s in education with a focus on college student affairs leadership both from Grand Valley State University, while currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership at Eastern Michigan University. Mayweather\u2019s work focuses on Black student protest, meaning-making in the leadership process, and inclusion in higher education. Mayweather has over 10 years of professional experience developing co-curricular classrooms and diversity trainings in higher education. He credits a lot of his professional growth to the Social Justice Training Institute and the Intergroup Relations Department at the University of Michigan. He received the King Chavez Parks Future Faculty Fellow Award from the State of Michigan, the Student Engagement and Success Award from Eastern Michigan University, the American College Personnel Association Pan African Network Sawubona Award, multiple Residence Life Hall Council Advisor awards, and many other nominations.\nThis workshop is designed for master\u2019s students, doctoral students, and postdoctoral fellows.         "description":"In this talk, we study unconventional superconductivity in flat band systems, i.e. a system where the kinetic energy of an electron is almost a constant independent of electron momentum. We find that due to an emergent SU(2) symmetry, the ideal flat-band limit is exactly solvable, and the system shall have infinite many degenerate ground states. In a real system, energy bands are not infinitely flat, and the finite bandwidth lifts this infinite degeneracy, resulting in an unconventional superconductor.
