In Washtenaw County, law enforcement and advocates work very closely with one another and are actively engaged in protecting the public.\n\nThe proceeds raised during this 5k benefit SafeHouse Center, an organization within Washtenaw County working to build a community free of domestic violence and sexual assault. SafeHouse Center provides support for those living or working in Washtenaw County who are impacted by domestic violence or sexual assault. Their services include emergency shelter for those in danger of being hurt or killed, counseling, legal advocacy, support groups, and especially, hope.\n\nThe Purple Run is much more than a fundraiser. Our goal is to raise awareness about Domestic Violence and to help the community recognize that this issue affects all of us. There is strength in numbers, and we are so excited that you want to join us and make a statement to survivors that there is support in our community.\n\nEvery 60 seconds, 20 people are subject to inter-partner violence. It demonstrates that comics can be made accessible. Learn about the international efforts of innovators in the realm of comics accessibility for those who are blind or have low vision, assembled by the Accessible Comics Collective at San Francisco State University (SFSU) with the expertise of blind access professionals. \n\nEmily Beitiks was the accessibility lead for the content creation of the exhibit.
