Yet, the research behind it overwhelmingly relies on narrow populations that underrepresent over 85% of the world. In the first part of this talk, I draw on data from more than 2 million people in over 150 countries to show that the emotion-health link, though fundamentally physiological, differs strikingly across cultures. I first present evidence that culture modulates the loneliness-health link, then extend this pattern to the emotion-health link more broadly. Next, I show that culture interacts with physiology at multiple levels, shaping the emotion-health link distinctly across short- and long-term timescales. In the second part of this talk, I explore how physiology and culture, as two major shapers of emotion, might be leveraged to regulate emotion more effectively, in more lasting ways, and in tune with the rhythms of daily life.", "occurrence_notes":null, "guid":"152452-21913754@events.umich.edu", "permalink":"http:\/\/events.umich.edu\/event\/152452", "building_id":"null", "building_name":"Off Campus Location", "campus_maps_id":"1", "room":"", "location_name":"Virtual", "has_livestream":0, "cost":"", "tags":["Center For Positive Organizations","Research"], "website":"https:\/\/positiveorgs.bus.umich.edu\/event\/adderley-positive-research-incubator-chayce-baldwin\/", "sponsors":[ { "group_name":"Michigan Ross Center for Positive Organizations", "group_id":"3448", "website":"" } ], "image_url":"https:\/\/events.umich.edu\/media\/attachments\/2026\/09\/event_152452_original-1.jpg", "styled_images":{ "event_thumb":"https:\/\/events.umich.edu\/media\/cache\/event_thumb\/media\/attachments\/2026\/09\/event_152452_original-1.jpg", "event_large":"https:\/\/events.umich.edu\/media\/cache\/event_large\/media\/attachments\/2026\/09\/event_152452_original-1.jpg", "event_large_2x":"https:\/\/events.umich.edu\/media\/cache\/event_large_2x\/media\/attachments\/2026\/09\/event_152452_original-1.jpg", "event_large_lightbox":"https:\/\/events.umich.edu\/media\/cache\/event_large_lightbox\/media\/attachments\/2026\/09\/event_152452_original-1.jpg", "group_thumb":"https:\/\/events.umich.edu\/media\/cache\/group_thumb\/media\/attachments\/2026\/09\/event_152452_original-1.jpg", "group_thumb_square":"https:\/\/events.umich.edu\/media\/cache\/group_thumb_square\/media\/attachments\/2026\/09\/event_152452_original-1.jpg", "group_large":"https:\/\/events.umich.edu\/media\/cache\/group_large\/media\/attachments\/2026\/09\/event_152452_original-1.jpg", "group_large_lightbox":"https:\/\/events.umich.edu\/media\/cache\/group_large_lightbox\/media\/attachments\/2026\/09\/event_152452_original-1.jpg", "event_large_crop":"https:\/\/events.umich.edu\/media\/cache\/event_large_crop\/media\/attachments\/2026\/09\/event_152452_original-1.jpg", "event_list":"https:\/\/events.umich.edu\/media\/cache\/event_list\/media\/attachments\/2026\/09\/event_152452_original-1.jpg", "event_list_2x":"https:\/\/events.umich.edu\/media\/cache\/event_list_2x\/media\/attachments\/2026\/09\/event_152452_original-1.jpg", "event_grid":"https:\/\/events.umich.edu\/media\/cache\/event_grid\/media\/attachments\/2026\/09\/event_152452_original-1.jpg", "event_grid_2x":"https:\/\/events.umich.edu\/media\/cache\/event_grid_2x\/media\/attachments\/2026\/09\/event_152452_original-1.jpg", "event_feature_large":"https:\/\/events.umich.edu\/media\/cache\/event_feature_large\/media\/attachments\/2026\/09\/event_152452_original-1.jpg", "event_feature_thumb":"https:\/\/events.umich.edu\/media\/cache\/event_feature_thumb\/media\/attachments\/2026\/09\/event_152452_original-1.jpg" }, "occurrence_count":1, "first_occurrence":21913754 } , "149046-21905353": { "datetime_modified":"20261006T183219", "datetime_start":"20261007T140000", "datetime_end":"20261007T153000", "has_end_time":1, "date_start":"2026-10-07", "date_end":"2026-10-07", "time_start":"14:00:00", "time_end":"15:30:00", "time_zone":"America\/Detroit", "event_title":"How to Make Intentional Choices About If a Postdoc is Right For You", "occurrence_title":"", "combined_title":"How to Make Intentional Choices About If a Postdoc is Right For You", "event_subtitle":"", "event_type":"Careers \/ Jobs", "event_type_id":"2", "description":"Preparing Ph.D.s for Postdocs: How to Make Intentional Choices About If a Postdoc is Right For You\u00a0Are you a current PhD student considering a postdoc as your next step?
