The past half century has seen a tremendous growth in archaeological research, including the collection of vast and diverse data, and dramatic shifts in the methods used to collect it and in the conceptual frameworks by which it is interpreted. Archaeology is needed more than ever, as the extant record is increasingly being lost to forces like development, climate change, erosion, and looting. This mandates careful consideration of how we are to proceed to save what we can, combining collaborative and ethical frameworks in preservation and research. Our goals should always be ensuring broad and equitable inclusion in our endeavors, and open access and iterative use of what has been found for research, resource management, and public education. Examples of how such work has and can proceed are examined, from a perspective shaped primarily from work in the southeastern United States, where the author has spent much of his career. In addition to site and locality specific research, the nature and status of larger scale data compilation efforts are examined, such as PIDBA (Paleoindian Database of the Americas) and DINAA (Digital Index of North American Archaeology). Quasar absorption line spectroscopy offers a sensitive means of probing this tenuous medium; however, it requires a statistically significant sample of quasar-galaxy pairs to effectively map the CGM. In this talk, I will discuss efforts to map the CGM traced by neutral hydrogen (H I) and highly ionized oxygen (O VI) with a core sample using MUSEQuBES (MUSE Quasar-Field Blind Emitters Survey) at low redshift (z<1) complemented by archival observations. Finally, I will briefly discuss efforts to map the CGM in emission using integral-field spectroscopy with MUSE, highlighting one serendipitous discovery.\n\nPrasad\u2019s Title: Optical Frequency Comb Enabled Time\u2013Frequency Characterization of Entangled Ultrafast Biphotons\n\nAbstract: Optical frequency combs are specialized laser sources that act like a ruler for light enable applications from atomic clocks to exoplanet searches. We harness their precisely controlled pulses for ultrafast quantum state characterization. Direct measurements of biphotons remain challenging because single-photon detectors lack femtosecond resolution and conventional pump-probe methods require long acquisition times. Using 93 fs Yb comb pulses for frequency-upconversion optical sampling, we achieve sub-100 fs timing resolution and reconstruct a 1.42 ps cross-correlation of picowatt Er comb pulses.
