An overarching theme in her work is a perceived conflict between \"humans\" and \"nature\". Her projects reveal the history and currents of contradictions related to this divide by challenging systems of exchange and the tools we use to \"hunt\" and \"gather\". Using this as a starting point, she creates relational objects that invoke action and inquiry; not only to imagine, but also to participate in and initiate change in the places we live.\n\nIn 1995, Franceschini founded Futurefarmers as a collaborative platform to consider the social, political, and environmental organization of space. Futurefarmers use various media to deconstruct systems to visualize and understand their intrinsic logics; food systems, public transportation, education. Through this disassembly, they find new narratives and reconfigurations that form alternatives to the principles that once dominated these systems.\n\nFuturefarmers work is based in enmeshed acts of wandering and material processes. In the context of public art works, they cultivate public life in place, rather than inserting pre-determined forms and concepts into public space. They do so through a process-led approach,inviting materials and communities to arrive and intersect at a specific site or situation. Through time and the practiced presence of Futurefarmers, the meeting place of people and materials transform from provisional arrangements into durable forms and functions of their work\n\nFranceschini is a 2009 Guggenheim Fellow, a 2019 Rome Prize Fellow and a 2017 recipient of the Herb Alpert Award for Visual Arts. She is the author of A Variation on the Powers of Ten, For Want of a Nail, and, most recently, Silicon Forest in 2026. Franceschini received a BFA in Photography from San Francisco State University and an MFA from Stanford University. Born in Chicago to Punjabi immigrant parents, he earned a B.A. in Philosophy from Loyola University Chicago, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. in English from Ohio University. Bolina currently resides in Florida, where he serves as Chair of the Department of English and Creative Writing and teaches in the M.F.A. program at the University of Miami.\n\nOften blending personal narrative with politics and metaphysics, Bolina\u2019s poetry is noted for its investigation of the \u201cperceptual and sonic ground\u201d of modern life. He is the author of four full-length poetry collections, including his debut *Carrier Wave* (2007)\u2014adapted from his M.F.A. thesis at the University of Michigan\u2014*Phantom Camera *(2013), and *The 44th of July* (2019). His most recent collection, *English as a Second Language and Other Poems* (2023), which was awarded the 2025 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award from Claremont Graduate University, continues his deep dive into cultural identity. Beyond poetry, Bolina gained significant recognition for his 2020 essay collection, *Of Color*, which provides a poignant examination of racial perception and the complexities of the American dream. \n\nBolina\u2019s writing has been recognized with numerous awards. His accolades include the Green Rose Prize for *Phantom Camera*, the Colorado Prize for Poetry for *Carrier Wave*, and a long-listing for the PEN America Open Book Award for *The 44th of July*.
