Finkelstein, who is Jewish, has long supported Palestine\u2014in publication, on social media, in the classroom\u2014even as she was coming up for tenure at Muhlenberg College. The story of her unprecedented firing, based on a repost of a Palestinian poet, was subsequently picked up by The Chronicle of Higher Education and Inside Higher Ed. \r\n\r\nDr. Finkelstein\u2019s talk will be based on both her publications (especially her article \u201cWhat is a Classroom For? Teaching the Anthropology of Palestine,\u201d which appeared in Society for Cultural Anthropology [2019]) and her recent experience. After her talk, she will be joined by respondents Professor Rebekah Modrak and Professor Emeritus Alan Wald.\r\n\r\nMaura Finkelstein, author of The Archive of Loss: Lively Ruination in Mill Land Mumbai (Duke University Press, 2019), ethnographer and newly independent scholar.
