"description":"Talk: Modern Python Async Programming\n\nAsynchronous programming can help scale web services to thousands of simultaneous users while avoiding much of the complexity of multi-threaded code. Async code brings its own challenges, but a number of developments in the Python language and open-source ecosystem mean that building async web services and clients is now easier than ever.\n\nIn this talk, we'll look at how the Python ecosystem around asynchronous programming has evolved over time, some of the latest tools, and where development may be headed in the future.\n\nSpeaker:\nJamie Hewland, London\n\nBio: Jamie is a software engineer on the Streaming Platform team where he helps build and run the streaming data infrastructure that powers many Yelp features. Before Yelp, Jamie worked asan SRE and backend engineer for around five years in his home country of South Africa. He has given talks at PyConZA, ScaleConf, and KubeCon. Having moved to London earlier this year, you\u2019ll often find him running orcycling along Regent\u2019s Canal or tending to his growing collection of house plants.",

"description":"Inspired by the synergy between nature\u2019s beauty and complexity, and in partnership with the University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens, artists from the Ann Arbor Potters Guild created work centered around Michigan\u2019s natural landscapes and specifically for the Great Lakes Garden at Matthaei. Potters Guild artists created eight free-standing sculptures using the full range of traditional ceramic methods and tools, the potter\u2019s wheel, press molds, coil building, slab construction, and sculpting. Depictions range from naturalistic and representational, to abstract, as well as a whimsical nod or two to the timeless role of fantasy and myth in humankind\u2019s communion with nature. Exhibit is free but scheduled reservations are required to visit the botanical gardens. Use this link to book your visit: https:\/\/www.signupgenius.com\/go\/8050f4aadad22a2fd0-matthaei1",
