Participants will explore the interplay between movement and text. Through a series of structured prompts and exercises, participants will develop both written and choreographic material. Participants will develop material independently and collaboratively with prompts to guide the creative process. There will also be an opportunity to share and film work. This workshop is perfect for anyone interested in exploring the dynamic relationship between writing and dance. While encouraged no prior dance experience is required, just an interest in moving in creative ways! Comfortable clothing is highly recommended.\r\n\r\nKara Roseborough (MFA 24, Dance at the School of Music, Theater, and Dance) is a multi-disciplinary dance artist and one of three master\u2019s degree-level residents chosen for the 2024 Creative Careers Residency at the Arts Initiative. During her residency, Kara will develop a Motown ballet \u2018La Vie en Rose,\u2019 which chronicles the journey of a small-town Black waitress with dreams of dancing in New York City.
