Whether you're interested in a career in social work, or are still exploring career options, don\u2019t miss the opportunity to gain valuable insights and advice from an experienced professional.\r\n \r\n\r\nAbout Layna Johnson\r\n\r\nLayna Johnson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker currently serving as Senior Social Worker, Mental Health Clinician, and Department Team Lead at the VA Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA. With coursework in Brain, Behavior, and Cognitive Science from her undergraduate studies and a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan, Layna has consistently pursued opportunities to provide therapy and support to diverse populations. Her extensive experience includes working with youth, parents, families, couples, Veterans, African Americans, and the Deaf community. She is also an active member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Orange County Chapter, a nonprofit organization that advocates for Black women and girls in education, economic empowerment, public policy, and health and wellness.\r\n\r\nLayna was born in Detroit, Ml, and spent her early years in Louisiana before moving to Southfield, MI, where she lived for 14 years. Initially aspiring to become a pediatrician, her path shifted after taking mini courses at the University of Michigan. There, she realized she wanted to work in a different environment but still contribute to helping people in a hospital setting. During her graduate school internship, Layna discovered her passion for working in VA hospitals, where she now focuses on supporting Veterans and active-duty military personnel with their mental wellbeing. For a 2D electron system, measuring the magnitude of these fluctuations provides a direct measurement of the electron temperature and enables methods for inferring specific heat and thermal conductivity. Here I show how to understand Johnson noise both for electrons whose flow is dictated by Ohm's law and for electrons whose flow is hydrodynamic. I then discuss experimental results from the group of Philip Kim, which use Johnson noise measurements to demonstrate a novel method for inferring specific heat and thermal conductivity for arbitrary materials and quasiparticle excitations.
