Originally founded by Hamilton Carhartt, the company is still privately owned by his descendants\u2013making it one of the oldest, family-owned businesses in Michigan.\r\nThis tour will feature a viewing of Carhartt\u2019s Archive with their Manager Archivist, Dave J. Moore\u2014a graduate of the University of Michigan\u2014who will lead participants through an extensive 135-year-old collection of garments and products. Attendees will then visit Carhartt\u2019s Design Studio, where VP Global Product Design, Ben Ewy\u2014an Honors graduate of the University of Michigan\u2014will give an overview of Carhartt\u2019s product DNA, empathetic approach to design, and commitment to making functional garments which stand the test of time. There will be a Q&A following Ben\u2019s presentation.\r\nOnce registered for this event, participants should plan to meet on 4\/5 at 1:30pm, at the Perlman Honors Commons, on the ground floor of Mason Hall. We will arrive back to campus shortly after 6pm.Participation in this event, followed by a reflection\u2014reflection details to be provided day of the event, due no later than 4\/12\u2014counts as one HIA event.
