Since the public release of ChatGPT, some have worried that GenAI may reinforce existing inequities, while others have predicted that the tools will be used to expand access and make classrooms more inclusive. Now that GenAI tools are available to all U-M students, staff, and faculty, many instructors recognized the importance of introducing GenAI as a topic of conversation with their students, whether their goal is to encourage or discourage its use.
