        "description":"The \u00e9tale topology on schemes is a testament to the influence of algebraic topology on algebraic geometry. \u00c9tale realizations of topological invariants, such as the fundamental group and singular cohomology, played a central role in the development of french-school algebraic geometry. This expos\u00e9 will tell the story of the \u00e9tale homotopy type of a scheme, which provides a general framework for realizing homotopy-theoretic constructions in \u00e9tale algebraic geometry. As an application of this, I will present an obstruction theory for finding rational points on varieties. At the level of $\\pi_1$ this theory will recover classical obstructions due to Grothendieck. I'll conclude with the question of exhibiting explicit examples in which the classical $\\pi_1$-obstruction vanishes, but higher obstruction classes prevent the existence of rational points.",

        "description":"In 2007, Fomin and Zelevinsky introduced the bipartite belt, a sequence of bipartite cluster mutations whose exchange relations form a discrete dynamical system. When the system is periodic, we call this Zamolodchikov periodicity. In this talk, we discuss the classification of all Zamolodchikov periodic cluster algebras, with connections to W-graphs, root systems, and maximal green sequences. We observe that there is a natural red-blue statistic on the associated tropical dynamics that is homomesic, and use laminations to prove it for finite type. This gives a natural bijection between colored mutations in the dynamical system and roots in the associated root system.",
