The young state of Michigan played a key role in the union\u2019s victory both on and off the battlefield. Join us for a conversation with historian Jack Dempsey about Michiganders\u2019 Civil War experiences and how its legacy shaped Michigan history.\n\nJack Dempsey is an avid historian who has long been interested in the Civil War and its role in Michigan\u2019s history and cultural heritage. An award-winning author he has written eleven books, numerous articles, and given innumerable talks to academic and general audiences, as well as serving as President of the Michigan Historical Commission.
