With sneaky patching, however \u2013 with outputs connected back into inputs \u2013 it be-\ncomes a different creature entirely: a generator of analog chaos, volatile and unpredictable.\nAdd a trumpet to the circuit and you are now entering the unstable, fragile, and gritty world\nof Mark Kirschenmann.\n\nReturn to Sender takes the idea of feedback to a whole new level. The album captures\nimprovised exchanges between trumpet and No-Input Mixer, bringing together experimental\njazz, electronic noise, and live studio experimentation in a series of one-take unrepeatable\nperformances.\n\nFirst associated with Japanese circuit bender, Toshimaru Nakamura, the No-Input Mixer functions as a responsive partner with a mercurial mind of its own. Improvisor Kirschenmann shapes its pulses, tones, and feedback into layered textures, then adds processed trumpet lines that interact with the shifting electronics. His musical career and accolades are many and varied, but include hitting the UK charts in 1979 (#28 on \u201cthe New Wave of British Heavy Metal\u201d despite being a blues band), getting a cease and desist order from Walt Disney Corp for using a band name too close to that of a cartoon mouse, opening for bands such as the Yardbirds, the Animals, Wishbone Ash and Nine Below Zero, and playing in some of the most famous venues anywhere such as London\u2019s Marquee, and, well, The Ark!
