Mirza. \n\n\nDr. Mirza will be discussing his latest book *The Islamic Mary: Maryam Through the Centuries *(Fortress Press, 2025), which examines the appearances of Mary, mother of Jesus (Isa) in various Islamic theological and cultural contexts. Mary has been historically revered throughout the Islamic and Christian traditions. Mirza is the Founding Director of the Barzinji Institute for Global Virtual Learning at Shenandoah University, Virginia. He defended his dissertation in Arabic and Islamic Studies from Georgetown University, where he is currently a visiting researcher. He has also taught at Millsaps and Allegheny Colleges. His research focuses on the relationship between the Bible and the Qur\u2019an and the shared stories between them. He is the author of the new book *The Islamic Mary: Maryam Through the Centuries*, co-author of the book *The Bible and the Qur\u2019an: Biblical Figures in the Islamic Tradition*, and has published in journals such as the *Journal of the American Academy of Religion (JAAR)*, the *Journal of Qur\u2019anic Studies (JQS) *and *Islam Christian-Muslim Relations (ICMR)*. He has been profiled for his teaching by Interfaith America, and regularly teaches classes on the Qur\u2019an and Bible, and Marriage and Sexuality in Islam. His books have been published in over four dozen languages and his writing has appeared in The New York Times, Le Monde, The New Yorker, The Guardian, The Paris Review and Zoetrope, among others. Over a hundred short films and several feature films have been based on his stories. He has received the Book Publishers Association of Israel's Platinum Prize several times, and the Newman Prize for Literature (2012). In 2010, Keret was honored in France with the decoration of Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. In 2007, Keret and Shira Geffen won the Cannes Film Festival's \"Cam\u00e9ra d'Or\" award for their movie Jellyfish, and Best Director Award from the French Society of Dramatic Authors and Composers. The two also co-wrote and directed The Middleman (2019), a French mini-series for ARTE, which won the best screenplay award at Festival de la Fiction in La Rochelle. Keret was awarded the 2016 Charles Bronfman Prize. His latest collection, Fly Already, won Israel\u2019s most prestigious literary award, the Sapir Prize (2018) and a National Jewish Book Award (2019). Since 2021, he has been publishing the weekly newsletter \"Alphabet Soup\" on Substack. In 2022, Keret presented an exhibition about his mother at the Jewish Museum Berlin.
