Arts at Michigan is looking for enthusiastic, outgoing, and friendly students who have an interest in the arts that they want to share! Arts Ambassadors are unpaid volunteers who serve as the bridge between the arts and the U-M student body. As an Arts Ambassador you'll help promote arts events and activities, learn about local arts organizations, meet local artists, and have a small programming budget to organize things like film screenings, craft nights, gallery walks, etc.

Being a part of the Arts Ambassadors program is an extremely rewarding and fun experience! As an Arts Ambassador, you will be responsible for attending weekly meetings, taking leadership roles in organizing arts events, collaborating with other Arts Ambassadors to engage students in the arts, and most importantly, spreading the word about the vast arts community at U-M!

Learn more about being an Arts Ambassador by attending our Mass Meeting on Tuesday, September 11 from 5-6pm in the Maize & Blue Auditorium of the Student Activities Building. The application deadline for Fall 2018 is September 20. To apply, visit http://artsatmichigan.umich.edu/programs/ambassadors/.

What is Semester in Detroit?
Twice each year, Semester in Detroit brings a new student cohort to live, learn, work and engage in the city. Fall semester runs from September through December, and spring/summer semester runs from May through July. Applications for the spring and fall semesters are accepted on a rolling basis, but final deadlines are detailed on the Applying to SID page.

Through an intensive urban studies curriculum that explores 20th century Detroit history, urban planning, the non-profit sector, creative writing, and more, students learn about the city in a comprehensive way that isn’t available through single course offerings. As an experiential program, the classes are not the only way students learn of the city - yet they provide vital tools and insight to take with students through their own experiences in Detroit.

Want to learn more?
Please join us for our mass interest meeting on September 24 5-6PM in the East Quad Greene Lounge, if you want to learn more about the program❗❗❗We can talk to you about Scholarships, Housing, Application, and Credits!

Location: Off Campus Location
Organized By: The Quito Project

The Council of Global Student Organizations is a new international council at the University of Michigan which is focused on connecting all student organizations that travel internationally in order to network, learn best practices, and access resources.

CGSO was created because we recognized that many SSO's lack formal training and support from the University of Michigan so we wanted to create a space where all participating organizations can learn the skills to ensure that their initiatives abroad are collaborative and as impactful as possible.

Our first council meeting will be on Wednesday, February 6th at 6pm in room B1580 in Blau Hall. Please register to attend using this link: tinyurl.com/joincgso.

At our first meeting you will learn how your org can be apart of a collaborative council on how to responsibly engage with international communities. Enhance your cultural humility and awareness so your project can have a positive impact. Network with others who share your passion for international community engagement and leadership, and learn how these skills can directly translate to your career.

For more information please check out our website (tinyurl.com/cgsoumich), Facebook page (tinyurl.com/cgsoumichfb) or send us an email (contact-cgso@umich.com).

Free Chelsea Manning (March 13, 2019 12:00pm) https://events.umich.edu/event/62046 62046-15278274@events.umich.edu Event Begins: Wednesday, March 13, 2019 12:00pm
Location: Diag - Central Campus
Organized By: International Youth and Students for Social Equality

The International Youth and Students for Social Equality (IYSSE) at the University of Michigan has called a meeting and a demonstration demanding the immediate release of imprisoned whistleblower Chelsea Manning. A rally will be held on Wednesday, March 13 at 12 PM on The Diag in front of Hatcher Graduate Library. A subsequent meeting will take place on Thursday, March 14 at 7 PM in the Michigan League, Room A.

The IYSSE is declaring the imprisonment of Manning an egregious attack on democratic rights and a threat to press freedom. The courageous whistleblower was imprisoned on Friday for refusing to testify before a secret grand jury that is drawing up fabricated charges against WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange on behalf of the Trump administration. Beginning in 2010, Manning exposed major US war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan including the infamous Collateral Murder cockpit video showing a US helicopter in Baghdad gunning down 16 unarmed civilians, including two Reuters journalists.

Wednesday’s demonstration is part of a series of coordinated rallies around the country, with the Socialist Equality Party (US) and the World Socialist Web Site (wsws.org). The perspective of this campaign places the basis of the defense of press freedom and democratic rights on the mobilization of the international working class. More information on the campaign to defend Manning can be found on the website: freechelsea.org

Epsilon Eta Spring Interest Meeting (April 4, 2019 7:30pm) https://events.umich.edu/event/62528 62528-15397105@events.umich.edu Event Begins: Thursday, April 4, 2019 7:30pm
Location: Dana Building
Organized By: Epsilon Eta

Epsilon Eta is Umich's only Pre-Profesional Environmental Co-Ed Fraternity. We seek to develop a more robust network of students, researchers, employers, and agencies to more effectively deal with the realities of our world’s changing climate and loss of biodiversity. By fostering a conscious awareness of the intrinsic relationship between people and their environment through academics, the community, and service, we seek to bridge the gap from the undergraduate atmosphere to professional environmental fields for students at Michigan.
Although we are inclusive of all majors, we require an interest in the environmental field. By pledging Epsilon Eta, you will become a member of an eclectic group of driven, intelligent, and innovative peers, as well as gain access to professional, social, and volunteering resources.
This meeting will give you a chance to get a better sense of our organization and a chance to ask questions. We will also explain what our Fall Rush process consists of.
