We feel that it is important to carve out space for dialogue, provide support for one another, promote self-care, and share valuable resources. It is important now, more than ever, for us to come together as a community.

• Discuss the various types of racism.
• Dive into five of the systematic racism elements impacting
COVID Disparities.
• Identify other areas of systematic racism that are influencing
disparities.
• How can we influence change at an institutional level and what
kinds of actions ca we take as individuals?

Please join us for the Public Session of Bystander Intervention class, presented to you by the Office for Health Equity and Inclusion. Bystander Intervention class brings skills to the University of Michigan community for the purpose of building inclusive, respectful, and safe communities.

You will learn to:
• Identify self-awareness and social responsibility as qualities of strong personal leadership
• Discuss your own and others’ identities and experiences
• Determine the various options for effectively intervening during a negative situation
• Develop your ability to assess which intervention option is based on the situation
• Discuss how to leverage bystander intervention skills within their campus communities.
