Research groups can be a breeding ground for conflicts such as stereotyping, office politics, mansplaining, mismatched expectations and bad management. If this rings a bell for you, you are not alone. Come by for a safe atmosphere to share stories, strategies, and support in a mediated discussion that we hope will empower participants to create a more positive environment.

Come share your stories. **Insomnia Cookies will be served.** You can come for part of all of the event.

Join us as we transform the way people work. ServiceNow offers impactful opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students to get under the hood of the tech industry and help solve real problems. Accelerate your impact on the world by solving enterprise‑level challenges around the globe. We are passionate about our product, and we live for our customers. We believe collectively that we can change the way people work by delivering nearly everything as a service.

We are the fastest growing enterprise software company over one billion dollars. ServiceNow was founded in 2004 as the first cloud-based platform for the enterprise in San Diego, CA, and has now been recognized by Forbes as one of the Global 2000 companies – approximately 40% of the companies on the list are currently ServiceNow customers! Headquartered in Santa Clara, CA in the heart of Silicon Valley, we are now a global company with over 5800 employees!

Every day, thousands of customer requests, IT incidents, and HR cases follow their own paths — moving back and forth between people, machines, and departments. Unstructured. Undocumented. Unimproved for years. With the ServiceNow System of Action you can replace these unstructured work patterns of the past with intelligent workflows of the future. Now every employee, customer, and machine can make requests on a single cloud platform. Every department working on these requests can assign and prioritize, collaborate, get down to root cause issues, gain real-time insights, and drive to action. Your employees are energized, your service levels improve, and you realize game-changing economics.

The ECRC is hosting a Company Day for ServiceNow on Thursday, October 12 from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM in the Duderstadt Connector.

Check out what we do, here! https://youtu.be/bqh-5yew2yQ

Explore these and other questions about publishing contracts in a workshop hosted by Ana Enriquez of the U-M Library Copyright Office. After a brief overview of negotiation techniques and the law in this area, participants will negotiate mock publishing contracts. The group will then reconvene to debrief those negotiations.

Please register via TeachTech or by contacting Ana at anaenriq@umich.edu. Participants are encouraged to bring their lunches to eat during the workshop. A light dessert will be provided.

Introduction to Engineering Careers, by Symplicity (January 8, 2018 3:00pm) https://events.umich.edu/event/47609 47609-10963384@events.umich.edu Event Begins: Monday, January 8, 2018 3:00pm
Location: Duderstadt Center
Organized By: Engineering Career Resource Center

Engineering Careers, by Symplicity (formerly ENGenius.Jobs), is the career portal for Michigan Engineering. This is the same great system as before, just with a new name! Engineering Careers, by Symplicity, helps connect students and alumni with organizations looking to recruit Michigan Engineers. Students can use the system to research careers, apply to jobs, schedule interviews, conduct mock interviews, and schedule career advising appointments with the ECRC.

This session will be valuable to those who are completely new to Engineering Careers, by Symplicity, and wish to learn more about it. Through this interactive workshop, you will learn how to activate your account, conduct a job search, apply for positions of interest, and schedule interviews. Since employers posting positions on Engineering Careers, by Symplicity, are looking specifically for University of Michigan students, this can be a very effective tool for your job search.

This is a College of Engineering event.

The ECRC is hosting a Company Day for Visa Inc. on Wednesday, January 31, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the Duderstadt Connector.

Imagine working for one of the pioneers in the payment technology space. The kind of company that's been setting the bar for the way people pay and get paid for more than 50 years, and continues to innovate on a global scale. Now imagine that company is less than 10,000 employees worldwide, small enough that you'll actually have an impact and do some amazing things. Sounds pretty awesome. Well, that company exists and it's Visa.

Yep, Visa.

Imagine, in a single day, the diversity of transactions that Visa manages – from gaming enthusiasts who buy virtual goods to advance a level, to a small business merchant launching their first ecommerce business to a large consumer brand hitting their largest single-day sale. Now multiply transactions and interactions like that by millions on a global scale – that's Visa. It is a multi-billion dollar market that has experienced year over year growth!

Behind the next generation of digital payment innovation and global financial inclusion are the future leaders developed in the Visa Internship Program. Your intensive 10-12 week summer will challenge and inspire you through meaningful work, executive exposure, out of the box problem solving, social events and community service.

"Ruth Gruber, Photojournalist" celebrates the remarkable life, vision, and heroic tenacity of a 20th-century pioneer and trailblazer. Once the world’s youngest Ph.D., Ruth Gruber died in November of 2016 at the age of 105. The photographs in this exhibition span more than 50 years, from her groundbreaking reportage of the Soviet Arctic in the 1930s and iconic images of Jewish refugees from the ship Exodus 1947, to her later photographs of Ethiopian Jews in the midst of civil war in the 1980s. A selection of Gruber’s vintage prints, never before exhibited, will be presented alongside contemporary prints made from her original negatives.

The Opening Reception will take place on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at 6:00pm.

"Ruth Gruber, Photojournalist" is organized by the International Center of Photography and was made possible by Friends of Ruth Gruber. The exhibition is also co-sponsored by the U-M Office of the Provost.

"Ruth Gruber, Photojournalist" celebrates the remarkable life, vision, and heroic tenacity of a 20th-century pioneer and trailblazer. Once the world’s youngest Ph.D., Ruth Gruber passed away in November of 2016 at the age of 105.

The opening reception will include remarks about the exhibit, light refreshments, and a screening of the documentary, "Ahead of Time: The Extraordinary Journey of Ruth Gruber."

"Ruth Gruber, Photojournalist" is organized by the International Center of Photography and was made possible by Friends of Ruth Gruber. The exhibition is also co-sponsored by the U-M Office of the Provost.
