"In the fight for human rights and democracy, a single spark can ignite a mighty flame, as illustrated by “1987: When the Day Comes,” a star-studded, fact-based political thriller that reconstructs a turning point in South Korean history triggered by the death of a student. Directed by Jang Joon-hwan with a combination of humanistic ardor and intelligent insight comparable to the measured procedural mode of “Spotlight,” this is a compelling depiction of how brave individuals from all walks of life mobilized a whole nation to bring a recalcitrant dictator and his henchmen to their knees." - Maggie Lee, Variety

Three-time GRAMMY Nominated Justin Roberts is truly one of the all-stars of the indie family music scene. For nearly 20 years, Justin has been crafting songs for kids and parents that navigate the joys and sorrows of growing up. Along with his band, The Not Ready for Naptime Players, he has traveled the globe, from Hong Kong to New York, and Miami to Seattle. He comes to MIchigan with a new album, "Lemonade," that he says is "the musical equivalent of an impromptu lemonade stand popping up in the summer heat." Justin has performed in front of millions of people on the Today show; he's been featured on Nick Jr.; and his song "Get Me Some Glasses" was featured on a World Series broadcast.

Series tickets for four children's shows available (Justin Roberts, plus Jazzy Ash 2/17, Gemini 3/24, and Recess Monkey 5/5)!

Location: Museum of Art
Organized By: University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA)

The story of Japanese archaeologist Ryoichi and evidence of his worldwide excavations are explored by Patrick Nagatani in this series of photographs. Nagatani presents a narrative of Ryoichi’s archeological work, supported by images of excavation sites, unearthed artifacts, and Ryoichi’s own journal pages. According to the photographs, Ryoichi discovered evidence of an automobile culture buried at sites across several continents: Stonehenge, the Grand Canyon, and a necropolis in China. Docents will introduce this provocative and playful series that compels viewers to reflect on how photographs and institutions, such as museums, shape our knowledge of the past and present.

Lead support for Proof: The Ryoichi Excavations is provided by the University of Michigan Office of the Provost, Japan Business Society of Detroit Foundation, and Michigan Engineering.
