The Gates Cambridge Scholarship was established in 2000 and provides a full-cost scholarship and living stipend for graduate study (Master’s or Doctorate) in any field of study available at the University of Cambridge. Scholars are selected for their outstanding intellectual ability, leadership potential, and commitment to improving the lives of others as well as fit for the proposed program of study at Cambridge.

The aim of the Gates Cambridge program is to build a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others.

The Yenching Academy provides full-tuition plus a generous stipend to cover travel and living expenses for a 2-year Masters program in China Studies at Peking University in Beijing. The first-year curriculum offers an intensive program of interdisciplinary classroom and field study of Chinese history and culture, as well as real-time issues in China’s development. The second-year provides a living stipend to complete a thesis, an internship, and other immersive experiences.

Reshma Jagsi, M.D., D.Phil., is the Newman Family Professor and Deputy Chair in the Department of Radiation Oncology and Director of the Center for Bioethics and Social Sciences in Medicine at the University of Michigan. An internationally recognized clinical trialist and health services researcher in the field of breast cancer, Dr. Jagsi has coauthored over 300 publications. She has also devoted a substantial portion of her scholarly effort to investigations regarding bioethics and gender equity in academic medicine. Her investigations of women’s under-representation in senior positions in academic medicine and the mechanisms that must be targeted to promote equity have been funded by multiple large grants from the National Institutes of Health and philanthropic foundations. Frequently invited as a keynote speaker, she has delivered invited talks at over 50 institutions and professional societies, including the AAMC, the NIH, and the National Academy of Medicine and National Academy of Sciences. Active in organized medicine, she has served on the Steering Committee of the AAMC's Group on Women in Medicine in Science, which recently awarded her its Leadership Award. Her work is frequently featured in the popular media, including coverage by the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, NPR, and national network nightly news. A fellow of ASCO, ASTRO, and the Hastings Center, her contributions have also been recognized with her election to the American Society of Clinical Investigation. In this interactive lunchtime session, hear her describe her unconventional career, the challenges she has encountered, and advice in an interview with Henry Dyson, followed by the opportunity for open discussion.

The Beinecke Scholarship Program seeks to encourage and enable highly motivated students to pursue opportunities available to them and to be courageous in the selection of a graduate course of study in the arts, humanities, and social sciences.

Each scholar receives $4,000 immediately prior to entering graduate school and an additional $30,000 while attending graduate school. There are no geographic restrictions on the use of the scholarship, and recipients are allowed to supplement the award with other scholarships, assistantships, and research grants. Scholars must utilize all of the funding within five years of completion of undergraduate studies.

The Udall Foundation awards $5,000 scholarships to college sophomores and juniors and the opportunity to attend a 4-day orientation in Tucson, AZ and to gain access to the Udall Alumni Network.

The Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship provides support for approximately 125 full-time undergraduate students per year studying in NOAA mission fields. Scholarship recipients receive two years of academic support (up to $9,500/year) and a 10-week paid summer internship at a NOAA partner facility.

The U-M STEM Research Career Award supports highly qualified students who plan to pursue a PhD and research career in a STEM field.

The scholarship provides $5000 for summer research or other academic expenses. The scholarship does not require US citizenship; it is open to students from all nationalities and backgrounds. The U-M STEM Research Career Award application and letters of recommendation will also be used to select U-M’s nominees for the Goldwater and Astronaut Scholarships from among eligible applicants.
