In the music of The Cactus Blossoms, the country sibling harmonies of The Everly Brothers and The Louvin Brothers come alive for modern times. As we got to hear at the 2018 Ann Arbor Folk Festival, brothers Page Burkum and Jack Torrey sing and play the guitar, and their voices fit together as only brother duets can. The Cactus Blossoms were born and raised in Minneapolis and grew up on rock and pop, but they always had a fondness for old-time country and folk tunes. They began playing as a duo in 2010, soon they added classic-style originals to their repertoire and landed a band-in-residence spot at St. Paul's Turf Club. The Cactus Blossoms began playing clubs beyond Minnesota as headliners, and toured with Kacey Musgraves. They were signed to the Red House label, released their debut album, "You're Dreaming," and saw their song "Mississippi" featured on Twin Peaks. The Cactus Blossoms come to Michigan with a new release, "Easy Way." New Orleans songwriter Esther Rose is special guest.

We know—Tom Paxton had a farewell tour a few years ago. Kidding! Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner and folk icon Tom Paxton is back, and he's teaming up with the Grammy-winning Nashville singer/songwriter duo The Don Juans—Don Henry & Jon Vezner! Collectively, their songs have been covered by: Harry Belafonte, John Mellencamp, Miranda Lambert, Neil Diamond, Ray Charles, Nancy Griffith, Judy Collins, Pete Seeger, Janis Ian, Kathy Mattea, John Denver, Faith Hill, B.J. Thomas, Blake Shelton, Peter, Paul & Mary and Bob Dylan … just to name a few! Within days of writing and playing together, they knew they were onto something, and they soon took it on the road. Ever since the days of Porter & Dolly's cover of "The Last Thing on My Mind," the songs of Tom Paxton have had a special resonance with Nashville songwriters, and now the tradition continues!

Over the last decade, Pokey LaFarge has won the hearts of music lovers across the globe with his creative mix of early jazz, string ragtime, country blues and western swing, all while writing songs that ring true in both spirit and sound. His music transcends the confines of genre, continually challenging the notion that tradition-bearers fail to push musical boundaries. Cleverly striding among numerous forms of traditional American music, Pokey has crafted a genre all his own, marked by its accessible ingenuity. Rather than merely conjuring up half-forgotten imagery of days past, Pokey is a lyrical storyteller, the plot delivered smoothly through his dynamic vocals. One moment he shouts a line and the next he croons above his archtop guitar. He transmits a rare distillation of old American sounds!

Guitar gods in training, take notice. Voted Guitarist of the Decade by Guitarist magazine and Best Acoustic Fingerstylist four years in a row by readers of Guitar Player, Adrian Legg dazzles audiences with an unclassifiable mixture of country, jazz, folk, rock, and classical styles. For all his rapid-fire playing, though, Adrian never loses sight of melodies and their power to move us. And on top of that, he's a tall tale teller of the first order, with a dry sense of humor that would be reason enough in itself to come to one of his concerts. Says Newsday: "Unlike Richard Thompson or Robert Fripp, in whose league he belongs, Legg seems never to have been seduced by rock. But unlike Leo Kottke or Ry Cooder, whom he also occasionally resembles, Adrian Legg is an adventurer, not an archivist." He is, quite simply, one of the greatest guitarists in the world, and perhaps the very least heralded among that group.

The modern renaissance of folk music began when John Gorka won the Kerrville Folk Festival's New Folk award in 1984, and it grew to maturity when he released his debut album, "I Know," three years later. Here was a singer-songwriter with a striking baritone voice that made you feel like you'd been hearing it all your life, with the songwriting chops to take on and see into nearly every type of song—from personal pieces about love and sadness, to bemused observations about daily life, political thinking-aloud, and sheer unmitigated whimsy. Three and a half decades later, John still calls himself an aspiring folksinger, and his music has just kept getting deeper and better over his 15 critically acclaimed albums. John isn't on the road as much as he used to be, so don't miss this chance to catch a folk classic.

People all over the world think of the haunting "Ashokan Farewell," from the Ken Burns PBS series The Civil War, as an American folk song. But it's actually the creation of fiddler Jay Ungar and guitarist Molly Mason, musical partners since the 1970s and a marital duo since 1991. And "Ashokan Farewell" is just a small part of what they do. Listen to their timeless renditions of hard-driving Appalachian, Cajun and Celtic fiddle tunes, stirring Civil War classics, sassy songs from the golden age of swing and country, stunning waltzes, and deeply moving original compositions—and you'll find a pair of musicians who put on a great show and have a lifelong love for the music they make. Says Geoffrey Himes of Amazon.com: "Jay Ungar . . . is almost without peer as a composer of fiddle tunes. [He is] blessed with that rare knack for making his melodies move in ways that stir the listener's longings." Jay and Molly come to Michigan with a new release, the score for the Western film "The Divide."

Bruce Robinson and Kelly Willis, both superb songwriters and treasures of the Texas alternative country scene, joined forces personally when they married in 1996. They're parents of four children, including a pair of twins. Bruce and Kelly have made classic albums separately, and each one has put songs atop the country charts for others (including Bruce's heart-rending "Travelin' Soldier" for The Dixie Chicks). From time to time they join forces, and their new collaboration, "Beautiful Lie," has been earning raves. The music they make together has a strong traditionalist tint that evokes classic country dance halls and some of the great duets in country history, duets like Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris who understood each other's every move. We haven't heard either Bruce or Kelly at The Ark for a while, so this is a rare, not-to-miss treat.

Westbound Situation is pushing the boundaries of chamber music forward. Four young, talented, acoustic musicians with instrumental prowess only surpassed by love of collaboration have brought their diverse musical backgrounds together to create an exciting result. With each member being one of the most highly regarded young players in genres ranging from roots, to classical and jazz, Westbound Situation fuses these musical influences into a unique original repertoire. Westbound Situation blends the precision of classical chamber music, the rhythmic drive of bluegrass, and the colorful expression of jazz into a new style of chamber music—chambergrass. The quartet—comprising Grant Flick on violin, Matt Davis on banjo, Zach Brown on cello, and Jacob Warren on bass—mixes composition and improvisation seamlessly into their entirely memorized arrangements.

Wilco is a Chicago sextet formed by singer-songwriter and guitarist Jeff Tweedy in the mid-1990s. The band’s current lineup solidified in 2004 when guitarist Nels Cline and guitarist/keyboardist Patrick Sansone joined Tweedy, founding bassist John Stirratt, drummer Glenn Kotche and keyboardist Mikael Jorgensen. Wilco’s brand of classic roots rock incorporates folk, pop and genre-spanning experimentalism. The band’s 10-album catalog includes 2002’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (named one of the 500 greatest albums of all time by Rolling Stone), 2005’s Grammy award-winning A Ghost is Born, the Grammy-nominated Wilco (The Album) and The Whole Love and more. NPR has called Wilco “the best rock band in America” and the band has been heralded by the Los Angeles Times as “an amazing machine whose six players seem more at one with their music than any rock group working today.”

The roots of David Wax Museum stretch back over a decade, and all the way from New England to Mexico. As a student at Harvard, David Wax began traveling south of the border to study and immerse himself in Mexico's traditional music and culture. Back in Boston, he met fiddler/singer Suz Slezak, whose love of traditional American and Irish folk music fused with Wax's Mexo-Americana into a singular, energetic blend that captivated audiences and critics alike (Bob Boilen of NPR Music hailed their live performance as "pure, irresistible joy"). Their 2010 breakout performance at the Newport Folk Festival made them the most talked-about band of the weekend. They released a trio of albums that earned escalating raves everywhere from SPIN and Entertainment Weekly (which described them as sounding "like Andrew Bird with a Mexican folk bent") to the New York Times and the Guardian (which dubbed the music "global crossover at its best").

The Honeydrops have come a long way since guitarist and trumpeter Lech Wierzynkski and drummer Ben Malament started busking in an Oakland subway station, but the band has stayed true to that organic, street-level feel. Listening to Lech sing, it can be a surprise that he was born in Warsaw, Poland, and raised by Polish political refugees. He learned his vocal stylings from contraband American recordings of Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, and Louis Armstrong, and later at Oberlin College and on the club circuit in Oakland, California. With the additions of Johnny Bones on tenor sax and clarinet, Lorenzo Loera on keyboards, and Beau Bradbury on bass, they’ve built a powerful full-band sound to support Wierzynski’s vocals. More like parties than traditional concerts, their shows feature extensive off-stage jamming and crowd interaction. “The whole point is to erase the boundaries between the crowd and us,” Wierzynski says.

Dick Siegel never loses an edge that ranges from wry to sharp. Dick won the Best New Folk Artist award at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, and he's inspired plenty of songwriters in Michigan and beyond. Recently he's been showing up at next-generation roots events like Hollerfest and fitting right in. Dick is an immensely gifted and versatile composer. Ranging from jump blues and Buddy Holly-style pop to folk balladry and new folk lyricism, his songs offer all sorts of immediate lyrical and musical pleasures. Dick was named in WDET's list of the most important and influential artists in the history of Detroit, alongside legends such as John Lee Hooker, Stevie Wonder, and Aretha Franklin. "I'm celebratory—I celebrate life from the huge to the minute, from the tragic to the hilarious," he explains. In concert, he expertly steps into the roles of a raconteur, a confidante, your best friend, a prophet, a comedian, a pair of eyes on the universe, and an interpreter of daydreams.

Taylor says that he wanted to make Terms of Surrender; “a wandering record. I wanted where we recorded it to mirror the searching spirit of the music.” Having written upwards of 40 songs—in motel rooms, his studio in Durham, and a secluded cottage outside of Charlottesville, Virginia—Taylor winnowed them down to the ten works that comprise Terms of Surrender. With regular collaborators—including Phil and Brad Cook, Josh Kaufman, and Matt McCaughan—and new friends like Jenny Lewis and Aaron Dessner (of The National), the crew decamped to Dessner’s Long Pond studio in upstate New York, Sound City in Los Angeles, and producer Roger Moutenot’s Haptown studio in Nashville to create the most fully realized and genre-defying Hiss Golden Messenger album to date.

The Flatlanders—Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Joe Ely, and Butch Hancock—came together in Lubbock, Texas, in 1971. They were an insider's secret during the golden era of Austin music and recorded one album together; it disappeared almost immediately, but rare copies circulated from hand to hand for years afterward. The three individual Flatlanders, meanwhile, had gone on to solo careers as some of Texas's top singer-songwriters. Lately they've begun playing occasional shows, imbued with a new sense of what they shared and of what each member—cosmic cowboy Gilmore, rocker Ely, and songcrafter Hancock—brought to the group. The end result is a sort of apotheosis of Texas music, a relaxed, creative show in which anything can happen and probably will.

Delta Rae is a six-person folk-rock band from Durham, North Carolina, that includes siblings Ian, Eric, and Brittany Hölljes. The band's name came from a story their mother made up about a girl by that name who calls the Greek gods to Earth. The Hölljes siblings grew up partly in North Carolina and partly in the San Francisco Bay Area, and both places contributed strands to their musical DNA. After college, they moved into a house in the forest and set about finding their musical voice. Their early shows were legendary. "A lot of times we’d come down off stage and sing something in the middle of the audience, or be screaming out as opposed to singing in order to convey the emotion, to find something primal that will affect people," Ian recalls.

Nellie McKay has released, she says, seven relatively accomplished albums, won a Theatre World Award for her Broadway portrayal of Polly Peachum in The Threepenny Opera, co-created and starred in the award-winning Broadway hit Old Hats, written compelling musical biographies of a variety of female figures, and much more that's unlike anything else out there. Nellie McKay's latest album, "Sister Orchid," speaks of the night, the outsider, the plaintive wail of those lost at sea. "Sister Orchid" was conceived in solitude, executed in darkness. It comes from a place of quiet, a world of low lights and cool drinks, up against a hard wall. An oasis of hungry eyes and easy promises, warm as a biscuit, the kind of place your mother warned you against. If you haven't heard Nellie McKay, you don't know what you're missing!

Kentucky-born singer-songwriter Joan Shelley opened for Patty Griffin at The Ark several years ago. She was recently featured on NPR's "Fresh Air" and has been compared to Sandy Denny and Vashti Bunyan. Joan is a songwriter and singer from Louisville. She draws inspiration from traditional and traditionally minded performers from her native Kentucky, as well as those from Ireland, Scotland, and England, but she’s not a folksinger. Her disposition aligns more closely with that of, say, Roger Miller, Dolly Parton, or her fellow Kentuckian Tom T. Hall, who once explained—simply, succinctly, in a song—"I Witness Life." Joan has shared shows with the likes of Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Wilco, Chris Smither, Andrew Bird, and Richard Thompson, and Jeff Tweedy produced her 2017 record "Joan Shelley" at The Loft in Chicago. She comes to Michigan with a new release, "Like the River Loves the Seal."

A haggis is a tasty Scottish dish consisting of sheep heart, liver, and lungs, mixed with oatmeal, onion, suet, and spices, and then boiled inside the sheep's stomach. The Canadian-Scots band Enter the Haggis (bagpiper Craig Downie is from Scotland) has just about as much variety in their style, a high-speed collision of Celtic music, rock, bluegrass, funk, and world music. An Enter the Haggis live show is a musical feast—dynamic and emotionally uplifting. Alternating between upbeat rock numbers with sing-along choruses and slower, more introspective alt pop songs, the band plays progressive and lyrically driven music that’s strongly rooted in Celtic tradition—from the storytelling to the bagpipes. Enter the Haggis returns to The Ark with an as-yet-untitled new release—be the first one on your block!

Birds of Chicago, the husband-and-wife duo of JT Nero and Allison Russell, reassert the simple notion that beautiful words and music can still tap deep veins of emotion. With stark, elemental imagery that feels like scripture, or a lost folk song recovered, The Birds draw heavily on the gospel tradition, and they call their music secular gospel. For Birds of Chicago, every word counts. Every note counts. No gold-dusting, no filler. Music is the good news, and the music of this duo has a quiet but seismic urgency. Birds of Chicago alternate moody rock swagger with ghostly soundscapes. Their music is melancholy but never shoe-gazing. raw and soul-rich. Birds of Chicago have developed a fervent following, touring 200 nights a year since their formation in late 2012. They're coming to Michigan with an ambitious new release, "Love in Wartime," that they call "a rock and roll suite with a cinematic sweep." It's co-produced by Nero and Luther Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars).

Born in a sandstone victorian farmhouse that has been in his family since it was built four generations ago, Andrew Brown is the son of a Motown session musician and grew up listening to the sounds of his dad’s piano as he steeped in musical influences from Duke Ellington to Stevie Wonder. As a young man returning from a trip to New Orleans with a newfound interest in Swing music, he co-founded the eclectic americana group Appleseed Collective, with whom he has toured 150+ dates a year. Traveling all over the continental United States, playing esteemed venues and festivals such as The Ark, Sisters Folk Festival, Wheatland, Cervantes Ballroom, Summercamp Music Festival, Schuba’s, and The Ann Arbor Folk Festival at Hill Auditorium, he cut his teeth as a guitarist, songwriter and band leader. Since slowing down his touring schedule in 2017 he began tirelessly practicing and performing the music of his favorite guitar player: Django Reinhardt. Since then he has studied at various music camps with many of the genres heavy hitting players such as Angelo Debarre, Sebastian Gineaux, and Gonzalo Bergara, and was even invited to back up Denis Chang at one of his concerts. Andrew currently plays throughout Michigan with his own project Djangophonique, his band Appleseed Collective, and his friends projects Third Coast Gypsy Jazz, Smoking Dandies. He also teaches guitar, both generally and specifically in the style of Django.

He plays in concert halls, he plays outdoors, he's even played on a piano being paddled out to Mackinac Island, but wherever you heard him, it's an exciting show. Each year Mr. B stops in at The Ark for a Thanksgiving weekend concert, and it always brings something new. Mr. B often brings in musicians from around southeast Michigan and beyond for a boogie and jazz blowout to kick off the holiday season with a big dose of boogie woogie joy. They write and perform acoustic music for children and families, celebrating with their audiences the warmth, fun, and joy of family life. A Gemini concert is a kinetic event, filled with rousing singalongs, hand motion tunes, folk tales, and music from around the world. "If the Pied Piper had been twins, chances are he would have been Gemini," says the Detroit News. Since 1979 San and Laz have released numerous recordings for adults and children and families. This is Gemini's annual Thanksgiving Weekend Benefit Concert for Mott Children’s Hospital. We’ll be joined by our “Good Mischief Band” (Brian Brill on piano and Aron Kaufman on drums) and special guest Emily Rose on violin and vocals. Emily, San’s daughter, was born and cared for in the Holden NICU of Mott 25 years ago.

Bill Kirchen is an Ann Arbor-bred guitar god, a Telecaster titan who whirls through a whole gallery of country and rock styles over the course of an evening. After a stint as lead guitarist with Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen, he's gone on to an acclaimed solo career, and when he returns to town at the holidays his concerts turn into joyous reunions celebrating the glory days of the Ann Arbor honky-tonk scene, with special guests often on hand. Some things haven't changed—the Austin American-Statesman recently praised his "no-nonsense diesel guitar attack, powered by great booming, bottom-heavy licks still covered with axle grease." But Bill has evolved into a very funny rockabilly and country songwriter as well. This honky-tonk holiday show, which has often featured special guests, will get you in the mood for New Year's Eve a few weeks early!

"New Ways" is a new album by Montreal’s Leif Vollebekk, whose music has been described as inhabiting a space between Sigur Rós and Bob Dylan. Two years ago, things were changing fast, and the songwriter didn’t want to forget. "I often think of Leonard Cohen’s line, 'I hope you’re keeping some kind of record,'" Leif says. "So I did." It was like he was pretending you can compose a soundtrack to your own life (which perhaps you can). In the end, "New Ways" is a document of everything felt, the way each moment arrived and moved through him. Whereas his Polaris Prize–winning "Twin Solitude" was about self-reflection, "New Ways" is about engaging and changing, touching and being touched. It’s a physical record, with louder and tighter grooves, and the rawest lyrics the musician has ever recorded. A portrait of beauty, desire, longing, risk, remembrance—without an instant of regret. "She’s my woman and she loved me so fine," goes the chorus to one tune. "She’ll never be back."

Hailed as “Midwestern rock heroes” by American Songwriter, Red Wanting Blue has spent the last twenty years establishing themselves as one of the indie world’s most enduring and self-sufficient acts, notching appearances everywhere from Letterman to NPR and reaching #3 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, all while operating largely outside the confines of the traditional music industry. For their powerful new album, ‘The Wanting,’ the band handed production duties over to acclaimed singer/songwriter Will Hoge, who helped them create their most ambitious, fully realized collection yet. Recorded in Nashville, TN, the record draws on many of the group’s traditional strengths—indelible melodies, infectious hooks, explosive performances—even as the making of it pushed them far outside their comfort zone and forced them to take an unprecedented, nearly year-long break from touring.

It happens in the middle of Michigan in the heart of December. Since 2007, it has become a yearly tradition for The Ragbirds to present this unique family-friendly holiday show called Ebird & Friends. The songs and artists change from year to year, but the spirit of the event is community, the soul is creativity and the show is unforgettable. "Ebird"is Erin Zindle, lead singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist of The Ragbirds. Erin’s budding childhood love of music was sparked at Christmastime. The holidays were the one time each year that the entire Zindle family gathered to make music together, and that early communal experience of music took deep roots. Fiddles, horns, bagpipes, guitars, and instruments from all over the world will be sounding their voices together in harmony. Expect to be entertained, surprised, cheered, and warmed by this collaborative artistic performance of new and old songs, including Ragbirds' original songs inspired by the holiday. This show has become a phenomenon—it's up to four presentations this year for its 12th anniversary, and it shows no signs of slowing down.

A new era of Honky Tonk has arrived with what Zachariah Malachi & The Hillbilly Executives are bringing to the table.

With the biblical name his daddy gave him, Zachariah Malachi weaps tales of heartache, love and struggle that will remind you of a time where honky tonk music was widely used as a coping mechanism for everyday life.

The Hillbilly Executives are deserving of their name. As true masters of their craft, they bring the sound of bygone days to life as they back the words and emotion evoked one song at a time.

Singer-songwriter and pianist Anne Heaton has captured audience imaginations for over 15 years with her songs that are, by turns, "tender, barbed and spiritual" (Washington Post). She's been featured by the New York Times Popcast, played numerous times on NPR and shared the stage with artists such as Jewel, Sarah McLachlan and jazz drummer Max Roach. The New York Times music podcast called her music "absolutely gorgeous" and with "To the Light," her seventh studio album, due out this November, Heaton is surrendering to her love of collaboration more than ever before.

The father-daughter duo of San & Emily Slomovits have been playing music together since Emily was a young child. San, along with his brother Laz, as the duo Gemini, have been a highly popular folk act throughout Michigan and the United States since 1973, and Emily began joining them on stage when she was just eight years old. Now 25, Emily is an accomplished violinist, at ease in a variety of genres from classical to folk, pop and jazz, while her exceptional voice and experience as an actor allows her to convincingly present styles ranging from folk to tunes from Broadway musicals. San and Emily’s beautifully blended, genetically enhanced harmonies and warm stage presence are hallmarks of all their shows. Emily recently moved to Chicago, but regularly returns to Ann Arbor to continue playing music with her dad and other musicians. For this concert San and Emily will be joined by two of their favorite collaborators, bassist Jacob Warren and pianist Brian Brill. One set will feature San, Emily and Jacob playing virtuosic arrangements of classical, folk, klezmer and pop tunes, while in the other set San, Emily and Brian will perform songs from classic Hollywood movies and Broadway musicals such as Oklahoma, The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, The Wizard of Oz and more.

Tonight's show is not aimed specifically at families

Brother Joscephus and the Love Revolution play a foot stomping gumbo of roots rock, old-school soul, New Orleans rhythms, and feel-good secular Gospel. Since 2007, they have been on a musical mission to make the world a more righteous place! The two main visionaries of this musical explosion of love, Brother Joscephus and his eccentric cohort the Right Reverend Dean Dawg, dip heavily into a gumbo rich with New Orleans rhythms, old-school soul, classic rock stylings, and feel-good gospel music. They combine all this with a message of righteousness, urging us toward acceptance and love for one another. From their home base in Brooklyn, New York, BroJo has brought its Love Revivals to cities all over the country. When you combine the music and the message with a one-of-a-kind high-energy stage spectacle, you've got the makings of a revolution!

Kick off the new year with not one but eight Michigan songwriters: "One Shining Moment" composer David Barrett, Detroit native and Great American Song Contest winner Jim Bizer, contemporary country-folk road warrior Annie Capps, Irish-American chanteuse Kitty Donohoe, four-time Detroit Music Award winner Jan Krist, Michael Hough and David Tamulevich of the "Music to Cure What Ails You" duo Mustard's Retreat, and southeastern Michigan folk veteran Matt Watroba. The Yellow Room is the "brilliantly yellow" living room of Tamulevich's house on Ann Arbor's Old West Side, where gang members meet monthly for musical brainstorming and mutual critique. Come and be a fly on the wall as the exchange of creative ideas flows freely! "To have any one of these songwriters perform at Trinity House is a real treat," says promoter Bill Keith.

Mix the Hot Club of Paris with the sweaty soul of Dixieland, a couple blades of bluegrass, a pinch of ragtime beat, and a western swinging swagger, and you've just conjured the washboard-driven sound of The Appleseed Collective. The Appleseed Collective is poised to become the new sound of string music. Riding the wave of the bluegrass revival beyond newgrass and into a strange new genre-bending territory, they explore the full range of dark and light, old and new, composition and improvisation in a deeply theatrical stage show that transports audiences through time. "The blends of swing, bluegrass, Dixieland ditties and alluring gypsy-folk whirls—is something close to a transcendent listen ... you're there, on some dirtroad, being led on by these songs," says reviewer Jeff Milo of iSpy magazine. The Appleseed Collective has been getting attention from as far away as the UK, and this is a Michigan band that's going places!

British guitar legend Albert Lee, regarded by many as one of the world’s finest guitar players, with a career spanning more than 50 years, needs no introduction for country music, blues, and rock fans. Widely hailed for his fingerstyle and hybrid picking technique, Albert Lee helped to redefine country guitar for a whole generation of players with his song "Country Boy." Albert’s many career highlights include two Grammy wins, five years in the Eric Clapton band, and stints with the Rolling Stones' Bill Wyman, The Crickets, the Everly Brothers, Joe Cocker, Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell and many more. Take it from Emmylou, who says, "When Saint Peter asks me to chronicle my time down here on earth, I'll be able to say—with pride if that's allowed—that for a while I played rhythm guitar in a band with Albert Lee."
