It is highly desirable for wireless devices to be self-powered without using battery. We have developed nanogenerators based on piezoelectric\, trioboelectric and pyroelectric effect\, aiming at seeking self-sufficient power sources for mico/nano-systems. The output of the nanogenerators is now high enough to drive a wireless sensor system and charge a battery for a cell phone. For Wurtzite structures that have non-central symmetry\, such as ZnO\, GaN and InN\, a piezoelectric potential (piezopotential) is created in the crystal by applying a strain. Such piezopotential can serve as a “gate” voltage that can effectively tune/control the charge transport across an interface/junction\; electronics fabricated based on such a mechanism is coined as piezotronics\, with applications in force/pressure triggered/controlled electronic devices\, sensors\, logic units and memory. By using the piezotronic effect\, we show that the optoelectronc devices fabricated using wurtzite materials can have superior performance as solar cell\, photon detector and light emitting diode. Piezotronics is likely to serve as a “mechanosensation” for directly interfacing biomechanical action with silicon based technology and active flexible electronics. This lecture will focus on the fundamental science and novel applications of nanogenerators and piezotronics. The storyline is at once deceptively simple and perplexing: a wheelchair-bound protagonist travels through a neighborhood in the outskirts of Paris to her apartment\, while a young male character appears to follow her. Once home\, she is able to leave her wheelchair but is overcome by a powerful seizure. In conflating a momentous contemporary event with the genre of large-scale history painting\, West flouted the conventions of academic painting and the work became one of the most celebrated paintings in Britain. The artist went on to produce six versions of the painting\, one of which belongs to the William L. Clements Library at the University of Michigan. Through approximately 40 works from Michigan\, Canadian\, and British collections\, this ambitious and thematically focused exhibition will include the Clements canvas as well as other depictions of James Wolfe and his death on the battlefield.\n\nGenerous support for this exhibition is provided by the Joseph F. This periodical has now become the leading Russian intellectual journal covering not only literature\, but also offering an objective picture of contemporary Russian culture\, revising outdated categories and clichés in the Russian humanities\, and exploring the problems of Russian literature within a wider global cultural context. In 1995\, Irina Prokhorova founded a publishing house of the same name. Because people are not used to seeing advertisements or propaganda for which the product or motive is not obvious\, frequent and novel encounters with the sticker provoke thought and possible frustration\, nevertheless revitalizing the viewer’s perception and attention to detail. The sticker has no meaning but exists only to cause people to react\, to contemplate and search for meaning in the sticker. African art is often interpreted in Western analytical frameworks as expressions of timeless myths and rituals\, interrupted only by the colonial encounter. African Art and the Shape of Time complicates such conventional views by considering diverse modes for reckoning time and its philosophical\, social\, and religious significance. In conflating a momentous contemporary event with the genre of large-scale history painting\, West flouted the conventions of academic painting and the work became one of the most celebrated paintings in Britain. The artist went on to produce six versions of the painting\, one of which belongs to the William L. Clements Library at the University of Michigan. Through approximately 40 works from Michigan\, Canadian\, and British collections\, this ambitious and thematically focused exhibition will include the Clements canvas as well as other depictions of James Wolfe and his death on the battlefield.\n\nGenerous support for this exhibition is provided by the Joseph F. Clements assembled an outstanding array of primary sources on North America dating between 1492 and 1800\, with a heavy emphasis on early European exploration and discovery and the eighteenth-century wars for control of the continent. In this breathtaking installation\, as in much of his work\, Just situates the viewer in his signature landscape of beauty\, provocation\, and a general uneasiness that is as seductive as it is ominous. The storyline is at once deceptively simple and perplexing: a wheelchair-bound protagonist travels through a neighborhood in the outskirts of Paris to her apartment\, while a young male character appears to follow her. Once home\, she is able to leave her wheelchair but is overcome by a powerful seizure. One of Just’s unique strengths is his ability to engage the viewer in an open-ended\, unresolved narrative in a manner that is more intriguing than frustrating.
