DESCRIPTION:Stella!\, a four-piece\, all-women\, American roots band from Detroit\, Michigan\, has been referred to as a singer-songwriter supergroup with three-part vocal harmonies and four songwriter voices. Stella! was first conceived of by singer-songwriter Jo Serrapere after a conversation with American music critic and Creem co-founder Dave Marsh. Jo was inspired to put together a new group where she could specifically showcase her country-roots songwriting. Jo\, who credits songwriter Tom Waits\, early blues\, jazz and old-time\, as her strongest influences\, was the founding member of the old-time string band Uncle Earl. The voice of singer-songwriter Jen Syvit adds deep blues tones to Stella! She plays acoustic and electric guitar\, banjo\, dobro and ukelele. Jen has three solo albums to her credit\, including her new release\, \"So Long Pollyanna.\" They're joined by fiddler\, songwriter\, and classical violist Diana Ladio\, an alumna of the Chelsea House Orchestra\, the University of Michigan School of Music\, and the Celtic fusion band String Cheese. Completing the Stella! lineup is singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Laura Ann Bates. Pursuing opera in the classroom by day\, bluegrass and folk in the bars at night\, hymns and choral pieces on Sunday morning\, she has developed a very diverse musical palette. He creates one-of-a-kind blown glass vessels that resonate with both past and present. Being a former painter\, the surface of his work becomes a painting in glass. The reference for his surface designs can be traced to the Minoan culture\, 3000 B.C. Although his reference is ancient functional form\, his glass vessels are modern and architectural. Poceta’s museum quality work engages the viewer with beautiful forms and surface designs that can be traced to the late Bronze Age. Evert's vibrant watercolor paintings depict suspended moments of beauty and grace within our often frenetic world. Bold florals and organic elements are juxtaposed with shiny\, man-made objects and repeating patterns of light and shadow to engage the viewer in a world that shifts between the two- and three-dimensional. Evert received a B.S. from Eastern Michigan University and continued her education there as a graduate student in watercolor. The fields are often mystical spaces that are not meant to reflect a realist impression but draw one into an otherworldly place. Upon the completion of her first basket from a kit purchased at the Greenfield Village gift shop in 2003\, Fenwick's journey and passion took hold as a self-taught artist. Her passion is to bring happiness and heartfelt love to all ages through the eyes of innocence and fun. Each doll and soft sculpture is individually hand painted by McColgan and sewn with special care and attention to detail. Coco the little french girl\, Sooziedoozie the little sweetie\, and Gwendolyn the little cowgirl each have their own whimsical and curious story. McColgan graduated from the University of Michigan in 1981 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. The Lincoln Highway was the first transcontinental highway in North America and originally covered approximately 3\,400 miles from coast to coast. A genuine California cowboy when he was young\, Chris grew up on a San Diego County ranch\, riding horses\, and doing ranch chores\, but his interests would soon change from spurs and saddles to guitars and mandolins. Chris received the Americana Music Association's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. Bluegrass has always been an important part of Chris's music\, and he teamed up with his Desert Rose Band cohort Herb Pedersen for a wonderful series of bluegrass albums that encompass traditional sounds\, Byrds classics\, Desert Rose Band country hits\, and more. Herb Pedersen is the leader of the Laurel Canyon Ramblers\, long one of the preeminent bands in L.A. bluegrass\, and he's worked with a whole roster of stars in bluegrass\, country\, and rock. In person these two veterans deliver a relaxed bluegrass show with the spontaneous quality that comes only from absolute mastery.
