Choices about which artists you see in our galleries\, choices about what relevant facts we share about the works\, and choices about what - out of an infinite number of options - we don’t say about them.\n \nPieces in this exhibition were made at a time when the world came to be shaped by the ideologies of colonial expansion and Western domination. And yet\, that history and the stories of those marginalized do not readily appear in the still lives and portraits on display here. By grappling with what is visible and what remains hidden\, we are forced to examine whose stories and histories are prioritized and why.  \n \nIn this online exhibition\, you can explore our efforts to deeply question the Museum’s collection and our own past complicity in favoring colonial voices. Rainbows appear across the spectrum of our collections\, and this exhibit includes a handwritten illuminated manuscript\, practical color manuals of the industrial age\, contemporary artists’ and children’s books\, and more from our vast holdings. \n\nRainbows have captivated people for all of recorded history. It’s hard not to think of them as physical objects\, but they are really just distorted images of the sun\, positioned around the viewer’s head. They require someone to perceive them to exist\, and thus have much in common with colors and color theory in general. And\, like colors\, they are about relationships: of one color next to another\, and of colors and the people who see them. Rainbows appear across the spectrum of our collections\, and this exhibit includes a handwritten illuminated manuscript\, practical color manuals of the industrial age\, contemporary artists’ and children’s books\, and more from our vast holdings. \n\nRainbows have captivated people for all of recorded history. It’s hard not to think of them as physical objects\, but they are really just distorted images of the sun\, positioned around the viewer’s head. They require someone to perceive them to exist\, and thus have much in common with colors and color theory in general. And\, like colors\, they are about relationships: of one color next to another\, and of colors and the people who see them. This connection facilitates the development of level set methods informed by recent advances in threshold dynamics\, enabling simulation of the mean curvature motion of interface networks under varying surface tension and mobility conditions. We then extend these median filters to an anisotropic wetting/dewetting scenario where one of the three phases remains stationary while triple junctions form at their intersections. This scenario serves as a testbed for examining complex triple junction conditions due to anisotropy. Numerical evidence supports the correct angle condition at these junctions\, encouraging further exploration into fully anisotropic multiphase flow dynamics.\n\nAdditionally\, building on this connection between level set methods and threshold dynamics\, we develop a median filter scheme that is second-order accurate in time and monotone\, ensuring convergence to viscosity solutions within established theoretical frameworks. As part of the 2025 Summer Lecture Series at the University of Michigan Biological Station\, the researcher and professor emeritus of neurology at U-M will discuss air pollution from fossil fuels\, the effects of air pollution on human health\, infections related to climate change\, other health consequences of climate change\, and what we as citizens and scientists can do.\n\nJunck earned bachelor’s degrees in physics and philosophy from the University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana and his M.D. degree from the University of Michigan. Rainbows appear across the spectrum of our collections\, and this exhibit includes a handwritten illuminated manuscript\, practical color manuals of the industrial age\, contemporary artists’ and children’s books\, and more from our vast holdings. \n\nRainbows have captivated people for all of recorded history. It’s hard not to think of them as physical objects\, but they are really just distorted images of the sun\, positioned around the viewer’s head. They require someone to perceive them to exist\, and thus have much in common with colors and color theory in general. And\, like colors\, they are about relationships: of one color next to another\, and of colors and the people who see them. Among his many numerous awards and grants\, he has been one of twelve international artists selected to participate in The 31st annual International Symposium of Contemporary Art in Baie – Saint Paul\, Quebec\; a year-long artist in Residence at the Roswell artist-in-Residency in Roswell\, New Mexico\; and a featured artist at the 2020 Spring Break Art Show\, in New York\, New York. Her work investigates and fortifies the space between cultural dichotomies through multiple fiber processes. She received her BFA from the University of Michigan and MFA in Fiber from Cranbrook Academy of Art\, with the Surface Design Association’s Outstanding Student Award. She was a Roman J. Witt Visiting Artist at the University of Michigan\, a Windgate University Fellow at Arrowmont School of Arts &\; Crafts\, and the 2024 Barstow Artist-in-Residence at Central Michigan University. Nickleson has written for a number of arts publications\, including exhibition catalogs (José Parlá: Polarities\; This is Not a Toy\; Coping Mechanisms\, Sam Durant: Iconoclasm) and artist monographs (Sam Friedman\, Tyrrell Winston). She has been a visiting curator and critic\, and was invited by the British Council to take part in their Design Connections symposium as part of London Design Week in 2015. A possible approach to the study of this conjecture is analysing Dehn surgeries on knots and links. Most of the techniques employed for constructing taut foliations on Dehn surgeries usually make use of some property of the exterior of the link\, for example its fiberedness. It is therefore interesting to address this study from a different perspective\, using other types of properties of knots and links. Rainbows appear across the spectrum of our collections\, and this exhibit includes a handwritten illuminated manuscript\, practical color manuals of the industrial age\, contemporary artists’ and children’s books\, and more from our vast holdings. \n\nRainbows have captivated people for all of recorded history. It’s hard not to think of them as physical objects\, but they are really just distorted images of the sun\, positioned around the viewer’s head. They require someone to perceive them to exist\, and thus have much in common with colors and color theory in general. And\, like colors\, they are about relationships: of one color next to another\, and of colors and the people who see them. The play runs for approximately 3 hours and scenes occur in various locations within Nichols Arboretum.
