SUMMARY:Exhibition:Creating the Future of Medicine for 175 Years
DESCRIPTION:As the Medical School celebrates the anniversary of its opening in the fall of 1850\, and Michigan Medicine marks the 100th anniversary of the opening of the \"Old Main\" University Hospital that served as its flagship from 1925 to 1986\, a free museum exhibit explores 175 years of medical education\, research and clinical care. \n\nOpen to the public at the Museum on Main Street operated by the Washtenaw County Historical Society\, the exhibit includes artifacts\, photos and facts about how U-M's medical community grew from humble beginnings on the Diag to become one of the nation's largest and most respected academic medical centers. It also asks visitors to ponder their own attitudes and experiences\, and to submit memories and photos of their time working\, studying\, volunteering or receiving care at U-M's medical campus and beyond. There are also activities for young visitors.\n\nThe museum is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.\n\nFull details about the exhibit\, including parking instructions and how to book a free private group tour on a weekday\, are available at http://michmed.org/museum\n\nThe museum has an accessible entrance at the rear of the building.

DESCRIPTION:“A Folk Juggernaut” –The New York Times \n\nAs global ambassadors of Irish heritage and storytelling\, The High Kings have consistently brought  the timeless tradition of folk music to audiences worldwide\, earning them chart-topping success and widespread acclaim. With their signature blend of classic tradition and modern edge\, The Rocky Road Tour promises to be a vibrant showcase of Irish culture\, energy\, and musicality. \n\nFollowing a record-breaking 2024 – including a sold-out world tour\, a feature on Disney’s critically acclaimed Only Murders in The Building\, and over 5 million weekly streams – the band are showing no signs of slowing down. Their momentum continued in 2025 with a string of sold-out U.S. tour dates.\n\nBut it was their inclusion on the soundtrack of Sinners\, starring Michael B. Jordan and directed by Ryan Coogler\, that marked a defining moment in their global recognition. The film’s soundtrack\, already topping international streaming charts\, was curated by Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer Ludwig Göransson\, a long-time admirer of The High Kings’ distinctive vocal blend and musicianship. DESCRIPTION:New music!\n\nThe City Is Coming to Erase It All is Fink’s ninth studio album\, following 2024’s Beauty In Your Wake. Recorded in Zennor\, Cornwall\, the album was made with a strict era-specific approach. Imagining a record Michael Chapman might have made\, right down to the guitar strings. Grammy-winning producer Sam Okell helped guide the process: “If it didn’t exist in 1974\, you’re not allowed to use it.”\n\nBut this is nowstalgia\, not nostalgia. “I want something new\, but with the same ethos\,” singer Fin Greenall explains. There’s a parallel between the restless 18-year-olds Fink once were and the autumn-aged family men they are now. Touring remains a compulsion as much as a joy\, despite having played every major European city countless times. “The need to play your new material is so overwhelming that it trumps all the comforts and trinkets.”\n\nCity is a product of this hunger for discovery\, and idolatry of the album as a form – like we had in 1974. City’s cover mirrors its interior\, the first song is the greeting\, the instrumental closer the conclusion. It’s a story. It’s a record for people who\, like its creators\, are curious. People who happily face a little cold for music\, who light a crackling fire back home\, who sit with these songs until they’re ready to chase after their own blue sky.

SUMMARY:Exhibition:Fore-Site (Phase 3): The Stamps Gallery Pillar Project
DESCRIPTION:From September 2025 through August 2026\, Stamps Gallery is partnering in a curatorial collaboration with two Ypsilanti-based\, artist-run project spaces led by Stamps alumni: C.Y.N.K. Studios\, directed by Sally Clegg (Lecturer III and Student Exhibition Coordinator\, MFA ’20) and Abhishek Narula (MFA ’20)\; and Sometimes Space\, directed by Nathan Byrne (Lecturer I\, MFA ’21). Each space hosts dozens of artists annually for exhibitions\, performances\, and events\, fostering experimental work and building community. For this project\, Byrne\, Clegg\, and Narula have been commissioned to reimagine the pillars on Division Street that flank the gallery. DESCRIPTION:Sophisticated\, irresistibly catchy folk-pop\n\nBritish-American trio Raynes formed when Mat Charley and Joe Berger\, both born and raised in North Dakota\, came across a video of UK native Mark Race on Instagram and fell in love—first with his face\, then with his voice. After a few messages and phone calls\, Mark was on a plane to the US to start a band (a few months later\, he had the flight number tattooed on his arm).\n\nSince then\, Raynes has signed with Sony Music Publishing and released six singles and four EPs\, drawing hundreds of thousands of monthly listeners and tens of millions of streams and earning press in Billboard and People. They’ve performed at BottleRock Festival and in clubs\, concert halls\, and amphitheaters across the US and the UK\, developing a reputation as a high-energy live act.\n\nIn 2025\, Raynes’ rendition of “I Want You to Want Me” was featured in an episode of Love Is Blind on Netflix.\n\nKnown for their intricate vocal harmonies and unique instrumentation as well as their poetic lyrics\, Raynes has yet to come up with a good answer as to what genre their music falls under. With all three members coming from different musical backgrounds\, the boys combine their diverse influences to form a group that draws inspiration from around the globe\, incorporating elements of folk\, rock\, and chamber pop with Celtic and world music to create a wholly original—and difficult to categorize—sound.

DESCRIPTION:Heartfulness Guided Meditation is a weekly\, drop-in program designed to help you Mental well-being. \n\nAll U-M students\, faculty\, and staff are welcome to participate in guided meditation practice with a trainer every Friday at noon over Zoom (details to join are provided below). No prior experience with meditation is required. \n\n*What will you learn?*\n\nThe guided meditation practice involves three simple steps: relaxation\, rejuvenation\, and meditation.\n\nRelaxation brings your body to a calm\, steady posture creating a stillness at the physical level\, and prepares the mind for meditation. We follow this with a rejuvenation method to detox the mind to let go of stress and complex emotions\, and will leave you feeling light and refreshed. DESCRIPTION:“While the band tends to describe its sound as Southwestern rock ’n’ roll\, you’ll also hear influences of Tejano and Conjunto\, the Pogues\, the British Invasion\, and even New Age — capturing the breadth of music in the Lone Star State.” \n–Texas Music\n\nFeaturing five musicians who grew up in El Paso\, Lubbock and Amarillo\, the West Texas Exiles draw upon the wide-open western reaches of the Lone Star State with a wide-ranging\, Americana-centered sound. Rising from the embers of the Dirty River Boys\, which Marco Gutierrez co-founded in 2009\, the Austin band features a triple-threat of songwriters in Gutierrez\, Daniel Davis and Colin Gilmore (son of legendary Texas troubadour Jimmie Dale Gilmore)\, plus seasoned bassist Eric Harrison and latter-day Dirty River Boys drummer Trinidad Leal. The Exiles' 2023 debut EP paved the way for their first full-length album\, 8000 Days\, due out later this year. The recordings build upon the live chops the group has honed through a weekly residency at Austin’s legendary Continental Club plus gigs at key local events such as SXSW and Willie Nelson’s Luck Reunion\, as well as high-profile touring appearances at Nashville’s Americanafest\, Braun Brothers Reunion and San Francisco’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival.

SUMMARY:Exhibition:Creating the Future of Medicine for 175 Years
DESCRIPTION:As the Medical School celebrates the anniversary of its opening in the fall of 1850\, and Michigan Medicine marks the 100th anniversary of the opening of the \"Old Main\" University Hospital that served as its flagship from 1925 to 1986\, a free museum exhibit explores 175 years of medical education\, research and clinical care. \n\nOpen to the public at the Museum on Main Street operated by the Washtenaw County Historical Society\, the exhibit includes artifacts\, photos and facts about how U-M's medical community grew from humble beginnings on the Diag to become one of the nation's largest and most respected academic medical centers. It also asks visitors to ponder their own attitudes and experiences\, and to submit memories and photos of their time working\, studying\, volunteering or receiving care at U-M's medical campus and beyond. There are also activities for young visitors.\n\nThe museum is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.\n\nFull details about the exhibit\, including parking instructions and how to book a free private group tour on a weekday\, are available at http://michmed.org/museum\n\nThe museum has an accessible entrance at the rear of the building.
