SUMMARY:Exhibition:Creating the Future of Medicine for 175 Years
DESCRIPTION:As the Medical School celebrates the anniversary of its opening in the fall of 1850\, and Michigan Medicine marks the 100th anniversary of the opening of the \"Old Main\" University Hospital that served as its flagship from 1925 to 1986\, a free museum exhibit explores 175 years of medical education\, research and clinical care. \n\nOpen to the public at the Museum on Main Street operated by the Washtenaw County Historical Society\, the exhibit includes artifacts\, photos and facts about how U-M's medical community grew from humble beginnings on the Diag to become one of the nation's largest and most respected academic medical centers. It also asks visitors to ponder their own attitudes and experiences\, and to submit memories and photos of their time working\, studying\, volunteering or receiving care at U-M's medical campus and beyond. There are also activities for young visitors.\n\nThe museum is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.\n\nFull details about the exhibit\, including parking instructions and how to book a free private group tour on a weekday\, are available at http://michmed.org/museum\n\nThe museum has an accessible entrance at the rear of the building.

SUMMARY:Performance:The Brudi Brothers
DESCRIPTION:Folk music with a bluesy edge and warm\, interwoven sibling harmonies\n\nThe Brudi Brothers are a dynamic Americana band hailing from Seattle\, Washington. Often recognized as the city's favorite buskers and street poets\, they are known for their raucous performances and distinctive old-world soul that stands out in the world of modern music. They gained rapid popularity worldwide when a live clip of their latest single\, \"Me More Cowboy Than You\,\" went viral\, with over 10 million views cumulatively and quickly rising. Comprising of three brothers\, Johannes\, Conrad\, and George\, the boys have an inimitable musical and performance dynamic replete with wit and humor. They are all multi instrumentalists and have been playing together since they were kids. They have traveled the world together\, their musical commentary drawing from adventures hitchhiking through Europe\, living on sailboats\, and performing for the Queen of The Netherlands to create their unusually hypnotic sound.\n\nListeners who discovered the band via their social media virality have eagerly taken to their 2020 album\, See You Soon. Recorded on a houseboat in Amsterdam with a sound engineer paid in beer and tobacco\, the project encapsulates a thoughtful and intimate slice of life immediately preceding the COVID-19 pandemic. They traverse genres with poignant and vibrant lyrics\, understated instrumentation\, and playful harmonies.\nThe Brudi Brothers have carved out a unique space in the Pacific Northwest music scene and beyond\, pairing familiar beloved influences with blood harmonies and melodies unique to the brothers. With a blend of old school folk\, country\, and rock-and-roll feel\, the band is known for their ability to play to any crowd. Their infectious sound and electrifying chemistry on stage has earned them a loyal fanbase\, who can't get enough of the band's simultaneous earnestness and irreverence.

No prior experience with meditation is required. \n\n*What will you learn?*\n\nThe guided meditation practice involves three simple steps: relaxation\, rejuvenation\, and meditation.\n\nRelaxation brings your body to a calm\, steady posture creating a stillness at the physical level\, and prepares the mind for meditation. We follow this with a rejuvenation method to detox the mind to let go of stress and complex emotions\, and will leave you feeling light and refreshed. Lastly\, learning to meditate by being mindful of your heart will connect you with yourself by listening to your heart’s voice. \n\n*Why Meditate?*\n\nWhile physical fitness keeps our bodies in shape\, meditation is an exercise for the mind and mental wellness. In addition to the measurable benefits mentally and physically\, many people benefit from an unquantifiable inner poise and harmony. \n\n*Please take Learn to Meditate session if you are new to the practice. These sessions are offered Monthly.* https://events.umich.edu/event/128708\n\n*Event Details*\n\nHeartfulness Guided Meditation \nFridays from 12-12:30 p.m. ET (except during university season days / holidays)\nJoin Via Zoom Meeting\nRegister to receive Passcode (see “Related links”\n\n\nThis wellness program is coordinated by ITS Teaching & Learning and provided at no cost by heartfulness.org.

SUMMARY:Rally / Mass Meeting:Dine to Donate @ Pita Way to support Autistic Students @ UM
DESCRIPTION:The Autism Spectrum Club (ASC) is hosting its first ever fundraiser with Pita Way (primarily because it is our usual hotspot for dinner events for this group). Visit Pita Way in Downtown Ann Arbor between 4-9pm\, mention this flyer/the ASC/this fundraiser\, and Pita Way will donate 20% of your sales to the ASC.\nThe purpose of this organization is intended to be a safe space strictly for Autistic people that is managed entirely by Autistic people. Its goals are to give us rest from the stress of life\, provide social interaction in a way that fits us as Autistic people\, give assistance navigating the issues of life\, and give kindness and support to one another when we struggle. It also provides informational events for non-autistic individuals and occasionally hosts advocacy based opportunities for students and faculty alike.\nFunds will be used to support members through fun and casual events\, informational events that may require or benefit from financial support (ie. food based advertising\, demonstrations)\, conferences and symposiums supporting autistic or otherwise disabled individuals\, or to support the Disability Mentorship Program (which the ASC is a primary founder of). \nIf you are interested in engaging further with the ASC\, please feel free to email me at ASCUmich@gmail.com.
