Did you know that Ann Arbor used to be the only place outside of the Soviet Union dedicated to printing Russian literature? During a time when many authors found it difficult to publish because of government censorship, Ardis Publishers became a beacon of hope to many authors and readers alike. Stop by the Special Collections Research Center, 6th floor Hatcher Library, any time during this open house to learn about Ardis’ involvement in publishing censored materials and smuggling them back into the Soviet Union for the masses.

Join us for this Third Thursdays at the Library open house, where curators share highlights from the library's vast collections.
