GEOMETRY: Fast Recurrence and Positive Entropy III

Asaf Katz

We will prove the main theorem of Einsiedler-Lindenstrauss, showing that unless a system has positive entropy, then there are (abnormally) fast recurrences of generic points.
We will try also to describe how, using arithmetic information, one may rule such fast recurrence, based on an idea of Lindenstrauss regarding quantum unique ergodicity.
