Water@Michigan January Coffee Talk
Public Reactions to Climate Migration // Nathaniel Geiger, Assistant Professor at SEAS
Talk Description:
As the climate warms, Americans and other people around the world are increasingly relocating to urban areas and places relatively less affected by negative climate impacts, such as the US Great Lakes region. How do existing residents of these regions feel about the prospect of new neighbors? And how do different types of messages on the topic, reflecting themes present in common media messages, influence destination community members’ attitudes toward climate migrants, toward climate change, and toward various climate mitigation and adaptation policies?
About the Speaker:

Nathaniel Geiger is an assistant professor in the Behavior, Education and Communication specialization. He joined SEAS from Indiana University, where he was an assistant professor of communication science at The Media School.
