This May, the Prechter Program is highlighting Mental Health Awareness and Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with a book reading and discussion at the Ann Arbor Library.

Join The Heinz C. Prechter Bipolar Research Program on Thursday, May 29th, 2025, to celebrate the release of Michelle Yang's memoir, “PHOENIX GIRL: HOW A FAT ASIAN WITH BIPOLAR FOUND LOVE.” Hosted by the Prechter Program, this event will feature a reading from the memoir, followed by a discussion about Michelle's mental health journey and the intersection of arts and healing. Michelle Yang is not only an accomplished author, but also a passionate activist and Prechter Program research participant dedicated to sharing her story to help others. The event will close the evening out with a signing and selling of “PHOENIX GIRL: HOW A FAT ASIAN WITH BIPOLAR FOUND LOVE.”

This is event is free and open to the public.
