ABOUT THE PANELISTS



Jon Goldstein (Ross School of Business)

Jon Goldstein is the founder and president of Highline Investments, where he has led the development of 15 cutting-edge movie theaters across six states over the past 25 years. With a background in finance and a passion for film, he brings a unique perspective on the business of theatrical exhibition, innovation in cinema spaces, and the future of filmgoing. Jon offers insight into entrepreneurship at the intersection of media and technology.



Ian Harris (BA ‘20, Film, Television, and Media)

Ian Harris is a video editor based in New York City, currently working on the final season of Queer Eye (Netflix). He began his career in post-production as an Office PA and Assistant Editor, with credits including Alone (History Channel), House on Fire (USA), and Worst Roommate Ever (Netflix).



Ashley Josephson (BA ‘99, English and Communications)

Ashley Josephson is a veteran talent manager at Untitled Entertainment with over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry. A University of Michigan alumna, Ashley began her career at the William Morris Agency before joining UTA as a film and television agent. Today, she champions clients across film and TV, shaping careers and leading strategic decisions behind the scenes.



Andrew Portnoy (BA ‘95, English)

Andrew Portnoy is Executive Vice President and Head of Production at DIGA Studios, with over 25 years of experience leading content creation across television and streaming. He has overseen projects for Netflix, Peacock, HGTV, and Paramount+, and previously held senior roles at MTV, VH1, and Nickelodeon—helping launch iconic series like Jersey Shore, Catfish, The Hills, and Teen Mom. Andrew is recognized for pairing creative vision with strategic production leadership, and will speak on adapting content for evolving platforms.




Emily Rose (BA ‘04, Film and Video Studies)

Emily Rose is a literary and talent manager at Mosaic in Los Angeles, where she represents a dynamic roster of clients—from Emmy-winning talent to emerging filmmakers premiering at Sundance and other top festivals. With a background in creative development at HBO and agency training at ICM, she offers a perspective on talent representation, building a creative career from the ground up, and championing storytellers in an evolving entertainment landscape.




Phonozell Williams- (BA ‘05, Film and Video Studies)

A writer and producer based in L.A., Phonozell’s work has spanned television, film, digital media, indie features and branded content. A graduate of the prestigious ABC/Disney TV Writing Program, he has written for ABC’s Detroit 1-8-7, BET’s Games People Play, and Comedy Central’s viral hit D-BOY. He offers a multifaceted view on the process of breaking into writers’ rooms, pitching to studios, and navigating representation as a creative of color.
