Angkor Wat and Other Hindu Temples of Cambodia; Happier Endings: Book Study; & Exploring UFOs

Angkor Wat class ($35) meets Wednesdays, 10 am-12 noon, Oct 9-Oct 23 at Grace Bible Church, 1300 S. Maple Rd.
Angkor Wat in Cambodia was built as a Hindu temple for the deity Vishnu by a Khmer emperor in the 12th century and it is the largest place of worship in the world. Khmer emperors built hundreds more temples, though smaller, the ruins of which are visited by millions of tourists. The class will cover the history, architecture and religious significance of the temples and a brief history of the Khmer empire. Taught by Venkat Lakshminarayanan.


Happier Endings class ($35) meets Wednesdays, 10-11:30 am Oct 9-Nov 13 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1400 W. Stadium.
Readings and discussion will focus on two books: “Happier Endings, A Meditation on Life and Death”, Erica Brown and Ira Byock’s “The Best Care Possible, A Physician's Quest to Transform Care through the End of Life”. References to current publications and resources will be included in our discussion. Please check OLLI web site for more information. Abby Wilson, retired clergy, will facilitate the class.


UFO class ($35) meets Wednesdays, 10-12:noon, Oct 9-Oct 23 at TSRC, 2401 Plymouth Rd.
Many reports of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) are received each year, the great majority of which have simple, prosaic explanations. This course will concentrate on cases that are not easily accounted for. Wilfred Kincaid and Ron Westrum, emeritus professors at UM and Eastern Michigan, respectively, have studied UFOs for many years.
