Rebecca Welzenbach, Journals Coordinator, Michigan Publishing

Successful journals require careful planning and management. This workshop will take you through the process of starting a new academic journal, including an overview of planning for your journal's mission, focus, and anticipated audience. It will also cover managing an existing publication's editorial and peer review, as well as tools for ensuring that your journal can publish content in a timely and consistent fashion and via accessible, discoverable, and preservable means.

About the Publishing Practice Series

Publish, Preserve, Promote: Navigating the Present and Future of Academic Publishing

As part of the university library, Michigan Publishing serves a unique role on campus. Michigan Publishing produces monographs and journals, but it also facilitates conversations among scholars about the nature of their scholarly communication and the future of academic publishing. This October, the Institute for the Humanities is pleased to host a series of discussions and workshops to help faculty and graduate students successfully navigate the changing landscape of scholarly publishing.

Tuesdays, 12:30-2, in the Institute for the Humanities Common Room unless otherwise indicated.
