On Saturday, November 23rd starting at 10 AM in the Parker Room in the Union, United Against Infectious Diseases is hosting a speaker series in honor of World AIDS Week.

This event is FREE for all who wish to attend.

The following is the schedule of speakers and the topics they will be covering. This will be a great opportunity to get interaction with and get questions answered by experts in several fields (non-profit/grassroots efforts, public health, clinical research) related to HIV/AIDS and to understand the current state of the fight against HIV/AIDS.

10:00 AM - Patrick Yankee
-Founding member of the HIV/AIDS Resource Center (HARC)
-Director of HARC for 10 years
-Current Director of the Southeastern Michigan Health Association in Association with Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion HIV/AIDS Program
Topic: Patrick will discuss his vast experience with and current grassroots efforts in raising awareness and funds for the fight against HIV/AIDS.

12:00 PM - Gary Harper, Ph.D., M.P.H.
-Professor and researcher in School of Public Health
-Member of Behavioral Leadership Group within NIH's Adolescent Medicine Trials Networks for HIV/AIDS Interventions
-Previous member of NIH's Office on AIDS Research Advisory Council.
Topic: Dr. Harper will be discussing his experience in engaging in public health/social research with the NIH's Behavioral Leadership Group and the status of his current research in sexual health practices and HIV prevention in marginalized and oppressed populations in the US and Kenya.

2:00 PM - James Riddell, M.D.
-Director of HIV Clinical Research at U of M Hospital
-Director of the Infectious Diseases Division Ambulatory Care Unit at U of M Hospital
-Clinical Professor at the U of M Medical School
Topic: Dr. Riddell will be discussing most recent developments in and uses of HIV/AIDS treatment (HAART) as well as his experience as an Infectious Disease clinical researcher and physician.

There will be plenty of time to ask questions so feel free to come and ask them!
