In an attempt to impress his teachers and patrons, Beethoven wrote an enduring work at the impressionable age of 23. Welcome Roshanne Etezady to the U-M composition faculty and experience her musical response to William Morris Hunt’s famous painting of a beautiful and terrifying Zoroastrian night goddess alongside Holst’s depiction of life in a London neighborhood. Alarcón’s impressions of Spanish and Latin dance rhythms unfold in his evocative symphonic preludes, Duende.
