Influential People in European History
Part I: 1715 to 1914
This study group will examine the lives and times of 12 influential Europeans who lived from 1715 to 1914. In Part I, notable people such as Frederick the Great, Samuel Johnson and Napoleon will be studied. Who were these people who stood out as noted leaders, writers, scientists and artists? How and why did their lives shape ours and reflect their own times? Professor Jonathan Steinberg’s Teaching Company course, European History and European Lives: 1715 to 1914, will provide the primary content.
