Don’t miss Ling Club’s first meeting of the term when Professor Anne Curzan will be joining us to talk about the Michigan variety of English: our dialect or accent, including our word choice, pronunciation, and syntactic eccentricities.Professor Curzan has dedicated her career to studying how people think about language, and their attitudes about how they and other people talk. She teaches classes on the history of the English language, Language Attitudes, and pedagogy, and also hosts the Michigan Radio segment “That’s What They Say” about those very topics.
