Ypsilanti songwriter Matt Jones brings about a historic tone in his writing, exploring the things that we can't get away from, the sins of the past, those things and decisions that were made that are going to be paid for as long as there are people and time to pay. He is able to take songs that are as powerful and moving played solo or fully orchestrated and present them in a manner whose time somehow seems blindingly urgent and yet drawn from decades past. On his debut solo release EP "Right to Arms" (2005), Matt set the tone for all future releases with his darkly playful instrumentation and brutally honest lyricism. Matt describes his new album, "The Deep Enders," as "a Civil War–spun sprawler of an album I've been making since I picked up an instrument." Tonight's special guest is Frank Allison!
