Discussion on Artificial Neural Networks

In machine learning and cognitive science, artificial neural networks (ANNs) are a family of models inspired by biological neural networks (the central nervous systems of animals, in particular the brain) and are used to estimate or approximate functions and their outputs. If you've ever been curious about them, or would like to start your journey of curiosity now, join us this Sunday for a guided discussion by 2 undergraduate students on different neural networks. The goal of the presentation is to give a basic understanding of what exactly neural networks are (different architectures, how are they trained, why are they useful, how do they work, etc) and what the upshot is for the cognitive science /computational neuroscience communities. Students need not have any prior experience with neural nets or computation to participate.
