Mr. B's Blues and Boogie Celebration
Born in Flint and by now a Michigan institution, Mr. B (Mark Braun) is a rare living link to the early days of boogie woogie, having learned directly from legends like Little Brother Montgomery and Blind John Davis. Each spring he brings in blues and jazz singers and players that you may not have heard before for a mini musicians' summit, right here at The Ark! This year's concerts feature Detroit's Bob Seeley, who's a piano player like Mickey Mantle was a ballplayer, and if you've seen his duets with Mr. B at outdoor concerts around the region, you know they're not to be missed. Elder Robert Moore is a Detroit gospel organist, pianist, and singer who is going to take you to church, right here at The Ark! And funky jazz pianist Chris Codish has been tearing up The Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe, The London Chop House, and other great Detroit venues, but tonight he makes his Ark debut.
