Panel: History and Politics of Diversity
Mandates, Lawsuits, Strategies
This panel brings together graduate students and faculty in the Humanities to reflect on diversity in relation to the Michigan Mandate, the affirmative action lawsuits, and the institutional climate around tenure and promotion. Diversity has a complex history at Michigan and remains a difficult political issue both here and at universities throughout the country. We invite you to join us to reflect on the lessons that might be learned from the past and their importance for the present and the future.
