Recombinant DNA
Its Potential Impact on Medicine
The goal of this group is to gain a better understanding of DNA and recombinant DNA technology in modern medical research and practice. After a brief presentation on DNA structure, function, and recombinant DNA science we will discuss medical applications and finish with a look at current ethical and practical concerns over possible future use of the technology. Reading materials will be provided. The format will be lectures and discussion. Bob Reed is a retired internist/hematologist/oncologist who was not actively involved in recombinant DNA research but who used the results in his practice and followed the field closely. This class for adults 50+ meets Tuesdays through June 28th.
