Nora Jane Struthers & The Party Line
Nora Jane Struthers is one of the most exciting songwriters in country, bluegrass, and Americana music right now. In the words of bluegrass great Claire Lynch, Nora Jane Struthers "infuses bright, fresh lyrics into this traditional genre with sheer intelligence. Musically, she takes unconventional twists and turns, while 'holding you to the road' with commanding charm." This Brooklyn-to-Nashville transplant has taken Music City by storm with original songs that are by turns breezy and deadly serious. Nora Jane's albums have attracted A-list instrumentalists, and NPR Music raves: "Fans of Dixie Chicks, Alison Krauss and Dolly Parton, take notice: Nora Jane Struthers embodies everything you could want in an Americana singer-songwriter.” Nora Jane and her band, The Party Line, are putting traditions and new ideas together in whole new ways, and her voice is like a cool drink on a hot day to boot. Ken Tucker of NPR's Fresh Air called Nora Jane's latest, "Wake," "excellent, alert, and sharp-tongued," and observed that she lives up to being named after Jane Austen and Dashiell Hammett's Nora Charles. Nora Jane returns from the Friday night bill at the 2016 Ann Arbor Folk Festival.
