Sharing Stories, Building Allyhood: Student Voices Against Islamophobia

College of LSA Division of Undergraduate Education and Arab and Muslim American Studies Program presents: Professor Evelyn Alsultany and Dr. Adrienne Dessel as event facilitators and a small number of students reading selected student stories

This is a speak out event on Islamophobia, developed with students active in Muslim, MENA and other student organizations. We aim to inform the broader campus community about how Islamophobia affects students on our campus and makes the university an unsafe space for students who are, or who are mistaken as being Muslim. The event will provide a space for students affected by Islamophobia to have their experiences heard and will inform other students on campus how to build solidarity and be effective allies. Stories can be submitted (names optional) until 5 PM Tuesday, Jan. 19 at http://goo.gl/forms/NMdGHJ242U or through our open mic at the event. Support from CAPS and MESA representatives will be available at the event. Great food!
