This concert features an array of pieces that display a broad range of contrasts. An extravagant gala planned by a woman well ahead of her time, but gone too soon; a 16th century tune brought back to life in the 21st century; the cascading array of shadows and sunlight over the Grand Canyon; the vast range of colors and tessituras in the concert band itself; and transcendent lyricism with raucous collage style.
