EEB Thursday Seminar Speaker Series with Stephen Wright, University of Toronto

(What) can population genomics tell us about the maintenance of genetic variation?

One of the oldest questions in evolutionary biology concerns the maintenance of genetic variation; how and why is variation maintained at loci with effects on fitness, and what was the source of variation contributing to species divergence and isolation. I will discuss our recent work aimed at trying to address these questions using population genomics, QTL mapping, and genome-wide association studies of gene expression variation.
