In the Bronze Age (2700-1300 BC), metal from Transylvania played a key role in the development of institutionalized inequality across Europe. This presentation will explore the various social, political, and economic mechanisms involved in the mining and movement of metal within Transylvania and across Eastern Europe. By understanding the earliest metal procurement systems, archaeology can provide a unique perspective on the nature of social inequality in our world today.
