This display showcases recent acquisitions that strengthen our extraordinary holdings in the areas of radical literature, transportation history, film, rare books, culinary history, Islamic manuscripts, children’s literature, and Judaica. View an eclectic display of unique artifacts that reflect the broad range of our collections.

Artifacts on display include historical treasures like Emma Goldman’s well-traveled suitcase, Orson Welles’ cutting script for the film Around the World, a fifteenth-century manuscript containing an Arabic treatise of materia media attributed to Galen, a 1850 contract for the remount of the moving machinery of the St. Peterburg and Moscow Railway, and Mildred Taylor’s illustrated novella for children, The Gold Cadillac, narrating a Northern black family’s experience of Southern segregation and prejudice during the 1950s as seen through the eyes of a young girl.
